"Mowy!!!!" Angel called.
"Snooze!" I muttered to myself. "Why doesn't she have a snooze button?" I was almost asleep before my other alarm clock piped up.
"MOWY!!" Noah! I thought you were on my side... I slowly got out of bed and picked up two five-year-olds.
"Mommy's gonna get you! You better run!!" I said. They hopped out of my arms and ran. I smiled. They reminded me of... him, even though they had no relation.
After I got dressed in a white blouse and some leggings, I walked into our kitchen. Angel gasped and pointed behind me to the T.V.
"Lookie Noah! Tawt gyws FAWMUS!!" She squeed. I looked behind me and saw him on the screen. A tear almost escaped my eyes, but I breathed in and out and turned the T.V off.
I walked over to the stove and made some eggs. I put them on my kids' plates, but they wouldn't eat. In silent protest, I guess. I turned the T.V back on, knowing they would eat if I did. They scarfed down the eggs once the T.V was back on.
"Munchkins! Wait for... nevermind it is Saturday so just stay there or something..." I trailed off. My bad parenting was... well, bad. I sighed and got ready for work.
*DING DONG* Our doorbell was annoying, and I was hoping to have it fixed sometime...
"Awntie L?" Angel asked. I picked her up.
"I hope so dear," I said. Noah was still staring at the T.V. I sighed and opened the apartment door.
I almost dropped Angel. Noah bounded off the couch.
"Hewo!" My overly happy son yelled at the figure at the door.
"Hello, little dude." He said, ruffling Noah's hair. I just stood there in shock. Angel pounded her little hands against me.
"Wet me dwon, mowy!" her angry voice brought me out of my trance. I set down my daughter.
"These are yours?" He asked surprised.
"No, I'm just watching two little kids who call me 'Mowy'," I said sarcastically.
"What do you want?" He opened his mouth as if to speak, but I wasn't finished yet.
"Oh, and where's 'Jess'?" I asked rudely. He visibly took a step back.
"Look, Sarah, I'm really sorry! Jess is gone. Married someone else. Nat, maybe. Where is your husband?" I smirked.
"I don't have one. I don't leave people that easily." He stared at me in silence.
"Now leave. You've ruined my life too much, and I doubt you came here to fix it." He looked sad, but I couldn't do it anymore. It took all my strength not to slam the door in his face.
"Mowy! Cwan I kweep?" I smiled at my daughter.
"No, darling. He was just leaving." I said with clenched teeth as I looked pointedly at him. He sighed.
"Leave! I have to get to my job. Not everyone has buckets of money, and I need to pay rent!" I never should have mentioned the rent. His look of pity made me want to smack him.
"Wipe. That. Look. Off. Your. Face. Now." I growled at him. His pity look was gone in a flash.
"I don't want to see you again. You had your chance in college, Jack." There. I said your name. Now, will you go away?
I was not that lucky. "Sarah, please? I need your help."
"My help?" I stared at him, then laughed.
"Really? After you dumped me to be popular? After you broke my heart, you show up here asking for MY HELP?" My voice raised at the end. He just made me so mad.
"Sarah..." He pleaded.
"No. That's final. Bye Jack." I told him, grabbed my kids, and shut the door. Noah and Angel rushed off. I slid down the door. I didn't want to leave, in case Jack was still here
After a while, I stood up and walked back into the kitchen. I threw a hoodie over my head and grabbed some money for the bus. As I suspected, Jack was still there. I quietly walked around him, after making sure my kids were locked in the apartment. I was a terrible parent.
"I don't think you are. Your kids love you." Jack spoke. I guess I said my thoughts out loud. I angrily stormed off.
I hoped work wouldn't run late. I needed to get back home to my kids. I hoped I never saw Jack again. But at the same time, I did.

When I got home, Jack was gone. I smiled as I unlocked my door.
"Angel! Noah!" I yelled. They ran to me.
"Hewo mowy," Angel said.
"Hello, Angel,"
"Chwicen nuwgets!"
"Wes!" Noah said. I smiled.
"I can make chicken nuggets." Angel shook her head.
"Nwope mowy. Whe alwedy hawd chwicen nuwgets." I stared at her.
"Who made it for you, dear? Auntie L?" She shook her head again.
"Jwack!" I sat down, stunned.
"Really, Angel?" She nodded.
"Wep." I sighed. Jack just couldn't stay out of my life, could he?
Just then, Jack himself came out of the living room. I would have died of anger, but my kids needed me.
Jack's P.O.V
Sarah had left the door open a crack, and so when her children came out, I decided to take care of them; Sarah just looked so tired, and so I thought I would help her out. I didn't realize that I had brought more stress upon her. As she buried her face in her hands, realization dawned upon me. I shook my head in despair. She would never help me now.
"I suppose I'll have to help you, that's the only way you'll ever leave. I hate you,"
She continued as if she forgot I was in the room. "You're rude, showing up here, asking for my help, you know... Why am I even thinking of agreeing?"
"Sarah, I need your help," I begged. I was not above sitting on my knees and begging her to help, but my better judgment got the best of me.
"Go away, I need time to think," I was pretty sure she muttered 'Even though the answer will be no..."
I shook my head.
"Fine, see you tomorrow," And walked out the door.
