A/N: Sorry for using this song AGAIN, but it really represents Sarah and Jack, don't you think?
Back to the Present: Sarah's P.O.V
I ran down the driveway. I had on a windbreaker and some leggings. My red hair was pulled up into a messy bun. Samantha, my little sister who wasn't so little anymore, had come to watch my kids.
I was running to work, as I needed to get all my anger out somehow.
I was angry at all my exes. My life, being so frustrating. The landlord, who was threatening to kick me out unless I paid rent in three days. But I got my paycheck in four. I shook my head.
I'm not worrying about this right now.
I needed to think of something. I had to back out of this 'alibi' thing Jack asked me to sign. It might get Angel, Noah, and me into trouble.
I reached the shop where I worked. I looked at my Fitbit. I was twelve minutes late. I slapped my palm across my face and stepped inside.
"Sorry, I'm late!" I yelled.
"Sarah, I know you need money, but you're an hour late. I'm afraid I have to fire you." My kind-hearted boss said. Little did she know, she was bringing all Hades to my already hectic life.
"What? Mrs. Carol, I'm only twelve minutes late!" I protested.
"Hon, you were supposed to work the morning shift too." I mentally face-palmed. I forgot!
"I'm so sorry Mrs. Carol! I was focused on my children." Wrong thing to say.
"Sarah, I'm sorry. But you're fired." Mrs. Carol said, handing me my paycheck.
I nodded and walked out of the store. At least I could pay rent. But then I wouldn't have much money for anything else. And my ex-husband sends less and less money every month, as he is married and has a daughter now.
I hated my life. Angel and Noah would go hungry or would have to go live with Sam or Lia.
I remembered something. I pulled out my phone and dialed a number I hated. Or, I hated the person at the other end of the line.
"I am only doing this because I'm desperate..."
Jack's P.O.V:
"I'm only doing this because I'm desperate"
Sarah had called me for the first time in years. Not to blame her for not calling...
"First, prove to me you didn't murder that girl. All witnesses say you walked away mad, and never looked back."
"I was thinking of y- stuff," I saved myself from complete and utter embarrassment. "and Julie took us to McDonald's and talked my ear off about how good of a wife she'd make. So I was pretty annoyed, but I didn't murder her for that,"
I heard her laugher.
"I got fired," She said hesitantly.
"Really? Why?"
"I was an hour late to work."
"Ohhh. Yeah, that'll do it."
"I have enough to pay rent tomorrow, but I won't have much else," I knew she had more than that saved up for her children's college education, but she wouldn't dream of using it.
"It's fine. I'll pay rent for you, and then you can use your money for important stuff for Ash and Trevor. I mean, Angel and Noah."
"You know I'm only doing this because I am desperate. And who are Ash and Trevor?" She asked suspiciously.
"No one!" It was true. Ash and Trevor were just fragments of my imagination.
"Really? Why?" Sarah asked, interest laced in her tone.
"Did I say that out loud?"
"Yep. Now, who are they? And why did you say them?" I was never telling her who they were.
"C'mon, pretty please?" I had to hang up before Sarah knew every thought I had.
I pushed ended the call. Why was I saying my thoughts out loud?
Sarah's P.O.V
I wondered who Ash and Trevor were for the whole day. Were they Jack's kids? No, he never had kids; I would have seen them on T.V.
Ash and Trevor sounded like cute names. Not twins, but maybe siblings...
What would have happened if Jack hadn't chosen Jess: Third P.O.V:
"Mom!" An exasperated teen grumbled.
"Ash, darling, Edesia can't have a child. Where would we keep a baby pony?""In the backyard!" Piped up an adorable child suggested. Sarah laughed.
"Trevor, Ash can't keep a pony in the backyard. Remember what happened with Sia?"
Ash mumbled some not-so-nice words.
"Ashley Grace Robinson!" Sarah put down her middle child.
"Sorry," Ash said, not sounding sorry.
Just then, the youngest Robinson toddled in.
"Thea? Did daddy drop you again?" Sarah asked, referring to Jack when he dropped his daughter when she was a year old.
"Nwope. I cwam mwyswelf" The three-year-old tried.
BACK TO THE PRESENT:
I made him think that he was thinking out loud, but this time I didn't gain any knowledge from it.
I didn't have work, so I wandered around, looking to see if there was any place that was hiring.
I first stopped at a local shop, similar to the one I had worked at. I stepped inside, but they told me they didn't need me. I kept wandering around and finally stopped at a publishing company. I had been writing a short story. Maybe I could publish it. Or help other people publish books, help them achieve their dreams. I walked inside.
A/N: Just to be clear, Sarah also had a similar flashback (you know, with the same names), because they SHOULD be together, (that doesn't mean I'm going to put them together, to be clear) so, yeah. That should be cleared up. Also, the like, 100-word 'Present' part, that took a long time, like half a day, just FYI.
Love ya all,
Elise
