“What do you mean by that?” I asked sweetly.

“Well we all know about your Middle School adventures silly!” she said, though she wasn’t looking at me. She was batting her eyelashes at Ashton. The sight made me sick. I don’t know how he stomach’s her.

“C'mon girls we’re going to be late if we don’t get a move on! And we have to orientate the freshmen this year, remember Paige?”

“How could I forget?” she replied with a false giggle.

Yes, Ash and Paige were orientating the freshmen this year, but only because I have to sort out cheerleading tryouts with Kristen, my deputy.

We rolled into the parking lot and a group had soon formed around our car. I smiled at the familiar sight. Paige climbed out of the car first with a kiss on the cheek for Ash and a filthy look for me. Ash walked around and opened my door for me; what a cutie. He grabbed my hand and with a side-ward smile walked towards our friends.

"Hey man!" said Kyle, a large football player, who is also one of Ash's closest friends.

"Kyle, my man! How was your summer vacation?" Ash replied just as enthusiastically .

"Same old, same old. Finally talked my grandma into buying me a new car!"

"No way man? What did you get?"

Kyle's girlfriend, Kayleigh, caught my eye and we both rolled our eyes.

I looked up at Ash and said "Babe, Kayleigh and I have to go find Kristen okay? Coach wants to run through a few things with us."

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Kayleigh mouth 'thank you' at me. I suppressed my giggle.

"Alright Els, I'll see you in chem, second period?" Ash said.

"Yeah yeah okay, you and Kyle can continue fangirling over cars now." I smiled.

I walked over and gave Kayleigh a hug. "Hey honey! Good summer?" I asked.

"Yeah it was great! My Dad brought to see Penn State! It's amazing! How was yours?"

"It was pretty good. Ash and I went to California for a couple of weeks to check out UCB. What a place! We spoke to the Dean and he said that we'll know about scholarships by this winter and if things work out, Ash and I hope to walk with you guys at grad and go straight to Berkeley to look for a place!" I babbled. I was getting excited just thinking about it!

"Oh my god! You guys are adorable! I wish Kyle and I were more like you guys..." Kayleigh admitted with a frown.

It was hard to miss the sadness in her voice.

"Whats wrong Kayls?" I asked, genuinely worried.

"Well, I'm being immature and selfish, but this year already feels so ominous! Like, Kyle is going to Oxford in England. England! Like seriously, how could we continue dating? It's just so depressing knowing that we only have another year left together, you know?"

I nodded, but in truth, I didn't know. I had no idea what she was going through. I had always had a somewhat cushy life. My Mom and Dad were childhood sweethearts. They got married, had me (lucky them) and then 5 years ago, along comes my little sister Chloe! She was a surprise alright, but a good one. I met Ash on my first day of 9th grade and by the time the snow-ball came around, we were dating exclusively. We haven't ever broken up or even had a major fight in the three years. Yep, my life was pretty perfect. If only Ash hadn't ever met Paige.

Paige Brown moved to Cooper High in sophomore year, and much to my annoyance, already knew Ash. Apparently, they used to be friends in elementary school when they both lived in Manhattan. So I just accepted her as a friend for his sake, but apparently, that wasn't what Paige wanted. She didn't want to be my friend, or a cheerleader, or even Ash's friend. She wanted more than that. She wanted Ash to be hers.

That was never going to happen.

See I can update semi-regularly! I'm getting better :P. Okay, so this is the second chapter! Hope you enjoyed it! Thoughts on Paige? Horrible biatch or hopeless romantic who's hopelessly in love with her best friend? Opinions people! Thinking of adding a cast, any suggestions?

Comment, vote and fan! Love you all <3
