Overprotective - A Nalu Fan Fic

Chapter Five

-Natsu's POV-

Demons run wildly through the streets...
People screaming echoes through the town...

We stepped outside seeing about 100 or so demons running wildly and terrorizing the town just as the flier said. I look beside me at Lucy and keep a mental note to stay close to her. She is too important to me, I can't let her leave my sight.

"Let's go" Erza commands, we all nod and jump into battle. The demons notice us right away and run towards Lucy and I.

"OPEN, GATE OF THE LION, LOKE!" I hear Lucy yell as I punch a demon in the head with my flaming fist.

The demon I punched stands up and screams in my face. It sends a ball of black magic at me but I quickly dodge and take a look at Lucy, still paranoid that she will get hurt.

"Natsu! Look out!" Lucy yells fear laced in her voice, I turn back at the demon.

"FIRE DRAGON ROAR" I yell loudly, a spiral of bright fire shoots out of my mouth hitting the demon head on. It stumbles back, but it stands back up sending more black Magic at me. I dodge most, but the last orb of magic hit me in the stomach. I was unable to move, it was like Sting's spell in the grand magic games. I focused my magic on where the orb hit and and soon enough the seal was burnt off just as before. I stayed still until the demon was in punching range. It inches closer as a black aura surrounded it's left claw. It swung it's left claw back and brought it foward. Just as it was about to reach my face I kicked the demon with my leg on fire, and casted a spell.

"FIRE DRAGON WING ATTACK" I yelled flapping my arms as if they were wings. Flames shot at the demon and sent it unconscious. I looked around for my blonde angel and found her in intense combat. She had Loke, Virgo, and Capricorn summoned and you could tell it was taking a lot of magic out of her.

I jog to Lucy who is still in combat and I help her take out the demon she was fighting with her whip. She looks at me and smiles.

"Thanks Natsu" She says to me, I smile.

"Anything for you" I reply, after a moment my eyes widen at what I said. I just try and get away from the situation and attack a demon that was about to attack Lucy from behind. I run behind her.

"FIRE DRAGON IRON FIST" I chant punching the demon. It flies through the air and lands back on it's feet. It runs back at me swinging it's claws in the air.

I am getting a really bad feeling, a knot is forming in my stomach and my conscience is telling me to turn around. I turn around to see Lucy struggling as a demon is choking her by the neck. I forget about the demon I was fighting and I grab Lucy's waist and pull her out of the demons grip, she coughs and holds her throat. I set my hand on fire and punch the injured demon. It is knocked out from one hit? Wow, Lucy did a number on it.

Still holding her by the waist I let go and turn her to face me.

"Are you okay, please be okay, I wish I was there sooner, please be oka-" I ramble, she puts a single finger against my lips causing me to quiet down. I make eye contact with her and she smiles slightly.

"I am fine, see?" She twirls around and there is only a few bruises on her neck. I frown seeing the bruises, if I only got there sooner, she would be fine.

"Fine, Let's just go find the team since we finished our group." I mumble in embarrassment. She laughs at my embarrassment and walks beside me.

I completely forgot about the demon I was fighting before not going to lie. It jumped in front of us sending black magic at us. The same orbs which paralyzed me, I pushed Lucy behind me and burned the magic orbs as they came close. When the demon slowed I took that chance to attack it.

"FIRE DRAGON FLAMING ELBOW" I yelled elbowing the demon in the side of the neck. It fell over motionless, either dead or unconscious.  I looked at Lucy to find her smiling at me.

"Thanks for protecting me." She thanks, I smiled and then frowned at her bruise.

"Anytime, let's just go find our friends" I say quickly, she nods and we walk through the demolished town.

After a few minutes of walking we find our teammates still fighting, we jump in to help them. 

"FIRE DRAGON IRON FIST" I punch a demon in the side of the neck once more, and once again it falls over motionless.

"I THINK HITTING THE NECK IS IT'S WEAKNESS" I yell.

"WOW FLAME-BRAIN SAID SOMETHING SMART FOR ONCE IN HIS LIFE" Gray yells back, I am so tempted to fight with him, but priority one, is Lucy.

As time goes on, all the demons are on the ground with no sign of life.

"That wasn't hard at all!" Wendy exclaims.

"Aye!" Happy agrees.

"Shut it stupid tom cat" Charle mumbles.

We all laugh at their little moment and walk back to the hotel.

"Hey Lucy, why is your neck bruised" Gray asked.

"Demons" She answers, I frown remembering how I couldn't help her in time.

"Wounds, or injuries made by those demons we just fought, Piloh Demons, can't be healed by my magic...Sorry" Wendy apologizes.

"It's fine Wendy, it isn't bad" Lucy reassures the little dragon slayer. I smile, Lucy would be such an amazing mother.

Soon eough we reach our rooms, Lucy goes to the bathroom, and comes out in shorts and a tank top. She looks at me and smiles before she tucks herself into bed. I shut the lights off and get into my own. I toss and turn in my bed, and soon enough settle on my back staring at the white ceiling. I can't seem to sleep no matter how hard I try. I sigh and push the blankets off of me and walk to Lucy's bed tucking myself in beside her. I wrap my arms around her waist and pull her closer to me. I plant a small kiss on her forehead and drift off to sleep.
