Overprotective - A Nalu Fan Fic

Chapter Eight

-Natsu's POV-

Her home is mine...
Want to know why...?
Because home is where she is...

We had just got off the the train back to Magnolia. It was a terrible ride in my opinion, but now we are back.

I am walking down the street alongside the girl of my dreams.

"Hey Luce?" I turn to her and see the bruises on her neck.

"Yeah?" She looks at me and her eyes sparkle.

"Here" I pull off my scarf and wrap it around her neck.

"O-Oh uh t-thanks" She stutters as a cute tint of pink spreads across her cheeks.

We arrive at the guild hall, luggage still in and hand as we push open the doors.

"WE'RE BACK!" We yell together.

"Welcome back Natsu and Lucy" A voice says. We turn to see Gramps.

"Hey Gramps!" I greet with a big toothy grin.

"Hello Master" Lucy smiles, oh how I wish I could see that smile for the rest of my life.

"I know you both just got back, but there has been a job request that asked for the both of you." He informs us, we nod and he signals us to follow him to his office.

"Please close the door" Gramps says, I nod and close the door and sit in the chair beside Lucy's.

Gramps opens a drawer and pulls out a paper, he puts it on the desk in front of us.

"Help, we need the mages Natsu Dragneel and Lucy Heartfilia to locate and destroy. Of what you may ask? Well, in our village there has been a person who has kept building these storm lacrimas in hidden places in which we have not been able to find, Please help our village. The job is located in Spring Village, the reward is 200,000 Jewel." Gramps read, Luce and I looked at each other and nodded.

"When do we leave?" I ask, Gramps smiles.

"In three days" We nod and just as we reach the door...

"You have grown Natsu..." I hear Gramps mutter under his breath. I smile and continue to walk out with Lucy.

"Natsu! Lucy! Over here!" Mirajane calls out, we walk over to the bar and sit on two of the stools.

"So~ How is Natsu's scarf?" Mira asked Lucy with a smug grin.

"Uhm-" Lucy starts.

"Yeah, Natsu has never let anyone wear his scarf y'know" Mira smiles and I see Lucy blush and I look down at my lap.

"He looovvveeesss~ you" Happy snickers, my head snaps up to glare at the blue cat.

"Shut it cat!" Lucy and I yell.

"Even talking in unison!" Mira fake gasps. I roll my eyes and watch Lucy from the corner of my eye.

My scarf perfectly matching her outfit, which is a black pleated mini-skirt, and a white crop tank top. Her hair which is being held half up, half down by a ribbon as black as her skirt.

I snap out of it when a plate of food is put in front of me, I look at Lucy to see her already eating, so I relax and eat knowing she is eating too.

While eating I make sure to keep an eye on her so she doesn't leave my sight.

"But in all seriousness, this is the first time Natsu has let anyone wear his scarf" Mira props her elbows on the bar and rests her head on her folded hands.

"Mira, she has worn it before" I sigh hoping that will make her back off a little.

"Eek! So cute~" Mira squeals causing my hands to fly up to cover my ears.

I keep an extra eye on Lucy as I cannot hear if anything happens to her. I take a quick glance at Mira to see her working with another customer. I sigh and remove my hands and look down at my plate to see I had finished.

I look at Lucy to see her starting to get up and grab her stuff, I am guessing she is leaving so I do the same and grab my stuff and follow her as she exits the guild.

"Well that was...something..." She mutters under her breath.

"Yeah..." I agree.

So...uhm...can we talk about...y'know...the kiss?" I ask nervously rubbing the back of my neck.

"Three days, when we are walking to the job we can talk about it" She smiles, I nod and we continue to walk to her apartment.

When we arrive I walk behind Lucy as she enters the door, she turns and looks at me which an excited face. I tilt my head in confusion and she points at me.

"You just used the door!!!!" She exclaims happily which the cutest expression on her face. I will use the door forever if I still get to see that cute face.

"Yes, yes I did" I laugh, she calms down and she closes her door behind us. Dropping our luggage beside the door I sit on the couch as she enters the bathroom.

I close my eyes, but hear a scream coming from the bathroom. My heart quickens and I jump up and run to the door.

Please be ok, please be ok, please please please.

I quickly turn the knob to open the door and see her standing on top of the bathtub pointing at the floor. My gaze follows to where she is pointing and a small spider, probably the size of my pinky nail is crawling around.

I look back at her to see tears streaming down her face, she looks at me and oh god. I go over and step on the spider, take a tissue, and pick it up throwing it in the garbage. I turn around to face Lucy again and she jumps onto me giving me a hug. I stumble back but catch her and hug her back.

"Please don't cry" I rub her back as she cries into my shoulder.

She has always hated spiders since before I met her, and I always hated seeing her cry after.

Soon she quiets down and her breath evens. I look at her tear stained face to see her asleep. I smile and pick her up bridal style and walk out of the bathroom and set her on her bed. She still hasn't changed, but I don't want to wake her up, plus my scarf looks cute on her.

I see the moon light shining through the window as I turn off the lights. I pull the blankets out of under her and pull them over as I slide in next to her. I hug her waist and pull her close to me. I nuzzle my face into her hair, her scent pulling me into a deep sleep.
