Hey guys! We finally get to see what Yoongi is up to. No pics again, though.

Question of the day: What do you think of Checkmate?

Yoongi woke up to a slew of notifications as usual. He dismissed the ones he deemed less important and went through the more urgent ones like work emails. He got ready for the day and left for a job that was equal parts rewarding and tiring.

It wasn't until lunch time that something interesting happened. Yoongi was pulled out of his work by the sound of someone knocking on his door. He considered just pretending that he had on headphones and couldn't hear but Namjoon's voice was heard the next moment.

"Hyung, I know you're in there. I have food so you can actually eat on time for once."

Yoongi rolled his eyes, standing up to let in his friend. True to his word, Namjoon had food from a nearby restaurant and a dimpled smile waiting for him. As they settled in to eat, Yoongi pulled out his phone as he remembered the things he had dismissed earlier. He opened Instagram, becoming slightly intrigued when amongst his notifications, he saw that someone had liked a picture from a few months ago. It meant that the person had been scrolling through his account and usually, Yoongi wouldn't really mind. His curiosity got the better of him, though and he went to the person's account.

Their username was 'PJimin' and they apparently had over 400 thousand followers, but that wasn't what caught Yoongi's attention. In the profile picture, he could clearly see his ex-boyfriend. He looked a little different, more mature but it was him. Yoongi scrolled down and was surprised to see that some of his friends followed Jimin.

He wondered if they knew him personally and his question was immediately answered when he saw pictures of them. As he stared at a photo of Jin and Jimin hugging, he began to put two and two together and figured that it was the same Jimin who Hobi and Jungkook had spoken so highly of. That meant that Jimin worked at Big Hit.

Yoongi bit back a groan. How could they have been so close, yet so far away for so long without knowing?

He blinked when a hand suddenly appeared in front of his face and he scowled at Namjoon who only frowned back at him.

"Are you okay? You zoned out."

"I did?"

Namjoon's expression became concerned, "Yeah. What's wrong?"

Yoongi contemplated telling him before deciding that he might as well. Namjoon was one of his best friends and although he didn't say it often, Yoongi knew he gave good advice.

"My ex, Jimin, liked one of my pictures from a few months ago," he admitted.

Namjoon blinked, "And this is the same Jimin you told me and Jin about?"

Yoongi nodded and Namjoon let out a little 'Ah!' as he leaned back in his chair.

"Well, why don't you just ask him why he did it?"

"What? I can't do that!"

"Why not?"

"Because..." and Yoongi stopped. Because what? Why couldn't he ask Jimin? He was the one who made contact first after so many years and Yoongi would merely be responding. Right?

Namjoon took his silence as an answer, "Just ask. The worst that could happen is him saying it was an accident or ignoring you."

"Or telling me to fuck off," Yoongi muttered and Namjoon rolled his eyes.

"You don't have to take my advice. You could always ignore him."

Yoongi shook his head, "No. I already know what I'm going to do."

"If you say so. Now, enough about your problems. I was telling a story."

"You've been spending too much with Jin-hyung."

"He's my boyfriend."

"I think I'd know that with how many times you two make out in front of everyone."

Namjoon snickered, not the least bit sorry, much to Yoongi's chagrin. He settled back into his chair and continued to eat his lunch as his friend talked. The rest of the day Yoongi spent working on the song he had been struggling to finish. His thoughts of Jimin didn't really help. It was almost nine o' clock by the time he deemed it complete. Since it was the last song on the album he had been asked to fix up, Yoongi decided he might as well go home.

It was the first time in a long time he was leaving work before ten o' clock and he was hoping he could use the time to get more sleep. Once he got home, he got started on dinner and it was only after settling down to eat that he remembered the situation with Jimin. After some hesitation, he pulled up Instagram on his phone. He wrote and rewrote his message to Jimin a few times before finally pressing send.

Min.SUGAofficial
Hey. I noticed you liked one of my older pics

Yoongi cringed at the message but it was already sent. Knowing there was nothing else to do but wait, he finished eating, using whatever drama was on TV to distract him. He was washing the dishes when his phone dinged and he nearly jumped at the sound. When he got the chance to check, he felt his heartbeat speed up as he saw that Jimin had responded.

PJimin
Yeah about that
It was an accident

Yoongi frowned. He felt oddly disappointed by that. Before he could overthink anything, another message came in.

PJimin
Not that the pic was bad or anything
But I don't want to seem like I'm stalking you or whatever

Min.SUGAofficial
Oh I see

PJimin
Yeah
I only found out about you because of Hoseok
You know him right?

Min.SUGAofficial
Yeah. We're friends
You're a dancer at Big Hit right?

PJimin
I am
And you're Suga

Min.SUGAofficial
Yes
I'm surprised we haven't met

PJimin
Me too

Yoongi tried to think of something else to say but found himself drawing a blank. He wasn't the best conversationalist, but he was hoping he would have had more to say to Jimin. Before the conversation could get too awkward, he gave the excuse of going to bed because of a meeting he had scheduled for the next morning. Jimin took it without questioning and bid him goodnight. Yoongi eventually sent a simple 'Goodnight' back after an internal debate that lasted longer than he cared to admit.

He checked the time and sighed. He hadn't been lying when he told Jimin he had a meeting the next day. He actually did need to get to bed soon. As he got ready to go to sleep, he thought of Jimin and his awkward conversation with him, wishing that he knew what step to take next.
