Rocket sat at the table with Chris and Mealeah while Chris's mother was sipping her coffee at the counter.
"This hot chocolate is good!" Rocket says to Chris's mother for who was chuckling.
"You got hot chocolate on your whiskers," the mother laughed then stopped, she didn't want to over do it.
Rocket picked up the napkin and wiped his whiskers. Chris and Mealeah chuckled a bit.
"Anyway Chris how did he get to be a talking raccoon?" Mealeah asked.
Rocket slowly put his head down looking at the floor. Chris knew Rocket didn't like to talk about the experiments.
"I can't tell you, it's like a friend thing, I'll just say it was a bad past," Chris says.
"I'm so sorry," Mealeah says with a sad face.
"It's not your fault," Rocket says taking another sip of his hot chocolate.
Rocket sighed then got up onto the table and looked around the room seeing that all the blinds were closed. Rocket put his arms over the straps of his suit, then slid his suit half way down to his waist and turned around showing the mother and sister the raccoon's scars. Mealeah put her hands against the medal feeling the touch of the cybernetics.
"I see why now you don't want to talk about it," Mealeah says, putting her hands off of his back. Rocket put the straps back on.
"I saved Rocket," Chris said.
"It's a good thing you did Chris," Chris's mom replied.
Chris changed the subject.
"Anyway it's late I think I should get to bed," Chris says.
"Sure I'll lead you and Rocket to your beds," Mealeah said, getting off of her chair and having them follow her. They passed through some hallways. Chris sneak peeked at the Christmas tree, it was beautiful with ornaments hanging on the tree.
"Here you go," Mealeah says as she opened the door revealing a bunk bed.
"Thanks," Chris says then Mealeah nods and goes towards the kitchen.
"I'm taking the top!" Chris says, climbing up the ladder and resting on the top bunk.
"Why? I wanted it!" Rocket says annoyed.
"Hey I don't want your fur to come through the mat and go in my face," Chris says chuckling.
"Fine."
Rocket jumps onto the lower bunk.
"I'll go brush my teeth," Chris says climbing down the ladder. Chris comes back with some pajamas on and holds small pajamas in his hands.
"I made some small pajamas for you Rocket, since you don't really wear them," Chris says, setting the PJ's on the bed.
Rocket always slept in bed with his suit on, he slept with no gear on if it was really hot in the ship. Rocket sniffed them, then took off his suit and put them on. They fitted perfectly!
"Wow thanks Chris," Rocket says with a smile.
"Sure best friend," Chris replies.
"You shouldn't be friends with a monster," Rocket says with his head down.
"Rocket stop calling yourself that. If anything, you're cool!" Chris says, trying to cheer up his friend.
"Really?" Rocket looks at Chris for an answer.
Chris nods.
"Get some sleep buddy."
Chris soothes him by petting him on the head as his fingers run through his fur. Chris then goes in his bed and shuts off the lights.
"Good night Rocket," Chris says, shutting off the lamp.
"Good night," Rocket replies smiling.
