"Huh?! There's no way mom would ever do that to us!" Don advanced and grabbed Emma by the shoulders, roughly.

"Take it back Emma!" Don yelled.

Phoebes eyes shot to Don.

"Don. Get off of her." Phoebe warned and got up from her chair.

Don looked to Phoebe and a shiver went down his spine, he backed off.

"Don..." Gilda frowned.

"Emma loves mom and this house just as much as the rest of us. Why would she make this up?" Gilda started to sweat,

"To tell the truth...I did think it was weird. The night that Conny left, Emma, Norman, and Phoebe all went down to the gate."

"Wait you did?" Don looked to Phoebe and Norman.

"Yeah." They both said in unison.

Phoebe sat back down next to Gilda.

"In most cases even if you broke the rules Emma and Norman would come clean about it and everything would go back to normal but you haven't done that yet. I didn't think it was weird when Phoebe didn't come clean because thats normal for her...but Emma and Norman always do." Gilda started to tear up.

"I wanted to ask about it, but I always got too scared to bring it up." Gilda put her hands over her eyes and started bawling.

Phoebe scooted her chair closer to Gilda and pulled her into a hug.

Emma ran around the table to Gilda.

"Gilda? Oh please don't cry. I'm sorry I made you worry." Emma put her hands on Gildas shoulders to make an effort of comforting her.

"D-did you see it happen? Did you see Conny being sold off to the bad people?" Gilda cried.

"Yeah...but we didn't make it in time." Norman answered.

"Okay but...is Conny safe?!" Don perked up.

"I don't know." Norman answered.

Both Phoebe and Ray grunted.

"Impossible...this can't be real!" Don cried.

Gilda started crying more than before and Ray was glaring at Norman, as well as Phoebe.

"I don't know if this proves much but Emma, and Phoebe spent the last few days looking into everyone's test scores." Norman held up a piece of paper.

"Test scores?" Don and Gilda said curiously.

<•••>

"According to this, kids over six are adopted in order of lowest scores first. Weird huh?" Norman said with a straight face.

"So not just Conny's scores but...Hao and Ceddy." Don started to sweat.

"It's just like Norman said." Gilda frowned.

"Don, Gilda. Let's all escape, so that we can help everyone. We can do it if we work together. Please, help us." Emma stepped forward with a focused look on her face.

Don and Gilda paused for a minute but then turned to Emma and nodded.

Emma started to tear up and she smiled.

"Sorry for yelling at you Don...and sorry for scaring you Gilda." Phoebe shrunk in her seat.

"It's fine, I would have been as mad as you were if someone was laughing at something this serious. I should be the one apologizing." Don nodded with a frown and rubbed the back of his neck.
