A Spooky Halloween

Typical things that occurs in October include the long-awaited arrival of Autumn, leaf colors changing from strong healthy greens to fierce reds, vintage oranges or beautiful yellows, the display of pumpkins, picking up of longer and warmer clothing, coming of a colder weather; you name it.

The most famous event that happens in October, though, is Halloween, of course. We all know that on 31st October, all hell breaks loose as people dress up in spooky, bloody and creative costumes, walk around to gather sweets by trick or treating, and throw memorable Halloween parties.

The latter fits most for the Sinner family. All family members have been planning for this party since Mid-October. All the children went to their schools and told all their friends about the big party that was going to be thrown in their mansion-like home.

You can imagine how excited they all were.

So now, in the morning hours of the 31st of October, everyone was already up.

Tim, Rachel, Elliot, Alex, and the rest of the children were up early preparing for the party, which was only supposed to start at 10pm.

While Sofi and Eno took a shower together in their bathroom, Ariana went downstairs, leaving Tim upstairs to think about a costume for Ariana.

Walking down the big staircase, she heard a loud groan from her mother Elli, who stood by the island counter in the big kitchen, eyes glued to the tablet in front of her.

"I don't have enough hands for this, my god..." Elli groaned, throwing her head back and staring at the ceiling.

"Are you okay Mom?" Ariana asked in concern, wondering what got her mother so frustrated.

"I wanted to prepare desserts and snacks for the party but I don't have enough fucking arms for this shit," Elli cursed under her breath, looking at Ariana.

"Alex and I can help you. I'm sure Sav or Az can help too." Ariana smiled and Elli sighed in relief.

You're not always easy to handle, kiddos, but I can always rely on you.

So, Ariana washed her hands and stood beside Elli, looking at the tablet which had an open tab with a recipe for some cupcakes.

Elli quickly got all the ingredients Ariana read out from the recipe and placed them on the counter.

"Okay, for the blood... Half a cup of light corn syrup?" Ariana said.

Elli searched for the cups, nodding her head. "Yup."

"One tablespoon of corn starch?"

Elli nodded again.

"A quarter cup of water?"

And again.

"And last but not least, red food coloring?"

And again.

And so, they went on to make the cupcake mixture and the icing.

"Cake mix, eggs, butter, milk, vanilla extract, liners, cupcake tin..." Elli read out while Ariana began to soften the butter in a microwave for ten seconds.

"Okay... Powdered sugar, vanilla, whipping cream, and the piping bags. Perfect, we've got everything," Elli said with a smile.

And so they began, mixing together all the ingredients for a hundred and two cupcakes.

When both switched off the stand mixers, they poured the batter into the lined cupcake tins evenly, shoving two of the trays into the pre-heated oven.

"TIM, STOP IT, I SWEAR TO KEN-" Sofi screamed at her aunt, who messed with her hair, clothes and make-up.

Sofi's hair was parted into two low hanging ponytails which both laid down to her shoulders. About a quarter of the left pony tail was dyed a magenta color, while the right one was dyed blue. Her eyes were rimmed with red and blue eyeshadow, and her lips were tinted a cherry red due to the lipstick.
