"In A Duffel Bag"

{Chicago PD: S3 Ep20}

[Elena's POV]

"Cancer?" Mouse said quietly, the news of what caused me to collapse was still sinking in and his face told me everything, he wasn't expecting me to tell him I had cancer. I didn't mean to keep it from him this long but the longer he didn't know, the harder it was to tell him... to tell anyone I guess but now I had to decide whether to tell the truth or lie now that everyone knows something is going on with me.

I was expecting Mouse to be angry I didn't tell him but I didn't see anger on his face and his body language wasn't indicating he was angry, so he's either gotten really good at hiding his emotions all of a sudden or he's not angry at me, although, part of me wished he was. I probably would be if the situation was reversed.

"That's why you came back to Chicago, to get treated," Mouse said after a moment. I nodded in response and watched as Mouse's lips tugged down, "I wish you'd have told me sooner but... I understand why you didn't," He added,

"Now I know what's going on, a lot of things are beginning to make sense," Mouse added and I glanced up, confused by what he meant, "Since you've been back I've been noticing things, you're disappearing to the locker room at the same time every day, the secret phone calls, Voight's been watching you carefully. Plus you're a control freak and you wouldn't just suddenly decide to come back home," He explained.

Jay, who was sat in a chair on the left side of my bed while Mouch was on the right, let out a laugh at the 'control freak' part, I sent him a playful glare, "What? He's right," Jay said lightly.

"True," I admitted after a minute, "How much do the team know?"

"Just that you collapsed and the doctors are running tests," Jay answered, "Voight has them focusing on the case but they're clearly worried about you and I don't think they'll buy that this was a one-off, some of them are picking up on things,"

"Yeah, I know," I said quietly, "BAU are noticing things too,"

"What are you going to tell them?" Mouse asked,
