SNOWY SUNSETS

The atmosphere in the Gryffindor common room after the match was amazing. Everyone was happy and celebrating. Some of the older students set off firework spells out of the windows, creating gold and red lions in the sky and many people congratulated me on my playing despite all that happened during the match. Many of them reassured me that matches usually weren't that bad, what with the rogue brooms and that. They said that I had done really well for someone who had disappeared for a good ten minutes.

I got a couple thanks from the Weasley Twins for saving George from a serious injury. Fred tried to appear impassive and jokey about it but I could tell that he was thankful his twin wasn't hurt, just as I would feel about Harry.

Wood hadn't stopped smiling for the last couple days and it was starting to concern me how much he loves quidditch. I'm surprised he hadn't blown that vein on his forehead yet.

But my favourite congratulations came from a certain Slytherin boy. Draco approached me after the match as I was about to enter the Gryffindor changing rooms. He said he was disappointed that Slytherin lost but was really impressed with how I played. I may have blushed a little as I thanked him. But then again, I blushed when Ron congratulated me so perhaps it was just a shy thing. Definitely just a shy thing.

On the Friday of that week, the first Friday of November, Hagrid had invited Hermione, Ron, Harry and I to his hut for a cup of tea and a chat. I hadn't been able to see Hagrid as much as I had liked since Diagon Alley so I immediately accepted his invitation. I was rather excited to see the giant, who easily became one of my favourite people to be around.

"Hey Hagrid!" I waved, running up to half-giant and throwing myself at him. My outstretched arms reached the width of his stomach whist his hands were able to wrap around my entire body.

"Lizzy! Congratulations on the match, I was watching the entire time," He congratulated.

"Thanks," I giggled, pulling myself away from him.

"Hagrid, we need to talk to you about something that happened during the match against Slytherin," Hermione said seriously.

"Of course, Hermione, what is it?"

"We think Snape put a curse on Harry and Elizabeth's brooms," Ron said as he followed Hagrid down the path to his hut. I stayed by Hagrid's side religiously with Harry next to me, then Hermione, then Ron. It was remarkable that we were all able to fit on the path in one line.

"Nonsense. Why would Snape put a curse on Elizabeth and Harry's broom?" Hagrid scoffed.

"Who knows. Why was he trying to get past that three-headed dog on Halloween?" Harry asked.
