I've always been daddy's lil girl. Innocent, obedient and protected by wealth and my sisters. I can also be very sassy and confident when surrounded by people I know.
Eliza is favoured by mother because of her beauty and quiet personality. They are very alike.
Angelica is very independent and outspoken. She is beauty, she is grace, she will punch you in the face. She's the gossip of New York City and boys adore her. I strive to be like Angelica. She's my role model.

"Peggy! Come downstairs, school's started." My fathers voice floats upstairs. "School" is our family living room. Daddy insists that we be homeschooled, his reason being he doesn't his girls frolicking around with the commoners and poor people. Our classes consist of daddy droning on about the importance of war and why the British are the worst ("they tax us relentlessly. Have you seen the cost of tea?"). He is convinced we will be going to war with the Brits and has started recruiting troops and printing pamphlets. While he explains all this, I sit here, my eyes unfocused and constantly yawning.

While he talks, let me tell you about myself. My name is Margarita "Peggy" Schuyler. I am 18 years old next year (My birthday is 19 September 1758).
My father, Phillip Schuyler is a soldier, army officer and the New York City senator statesperson, so he gets lots of money which is why we live in a mansion in which all bedrooms come with an en-suite privy.
I have two sisters, Angelica and Elizabeth.

Although my given name is Margarita, my sisters and friends call me Peggy. Daddy doesn't like this though so in the the house, I am Margarita.

My friends include the housemaid Hannah, my sisters, as well as the twins Penelope "Penny" and Eden who are mothers- friends- children.

We also have a dog, a border collie named Coco. She is waging a constant war with the cook Amelia. It's hilarious to watch them playing tug a war with a line of sausages.

"Margarita!"
"Yes, father?" I reply timidly
"Are you paying attention?"
"Of course,"
"Then can you tell me what we have to gain in going to war?" He asks.
"Dignity, lower taxes and......tea?" I improvise. The others stifle a laugh. Father nods curtly.
"And can you tell me Margarita who will be leading us into battle?"
"Uuuhhh....."
Ding dong!
Alas! Saved by the door bell.
Father frowns at me and leaves to answer. He comes back with an opened letter in his hand and a frown.
"Girls, It seems the British have made a new weaponry development that may impact the future of our country. I must report to the office. Hannah will take you for English now" he says with a dismissive wave of his hand as he shrugs on his coat. Hannah bustles over to us handing our books.
Great! History AND English. Could this day get any worse?

(Authors note: hey guys it's Cocolocosam. This my first ever chapter of my first ever book. I'm very proud of it. I know there isn't much happening, it was just a get to know Peggy chapter. I would also like to point out that I do not like war and I love the British despite the views in this book, I just tried to get the perspective of Phillip Schuyler. Also some of the information in this book was not real life, I was just trying to think of more characters.
Thank you for reading! The next chapter will be their rebellious trip to New York and the Schuyler sisters as a story)
