Mama

"Hey" Shawn's voice was soft, his eyes filled with a regret he shouldnt have as he reached down and wrapped Camila in his arms. She returned the hug briefly and then moved away, Shawn's body stiffened, something was wrong, he just hoped it was because of Jacob's actions and not his own

"You can't be here right now Shawn" she pulled the door so it was barely open and stepped outside looking small and nervous and he hated the way seeing her like that made him feel

Shawn could hear angry voices inside the house, doors slamming and voices raised and knew by the way Camila looked at him that he was in some way to blame

"What's going on?"

"Your mom came over" Shawn's heart stuttered in his chest and dread flooded his blood stream. "She told my dad some things, in fact she pretty much told him everything" Shawn couldn't speak, he just nodded his head in understanding as Sinus raised voice rang out from inside

'You are acting like a judgmental asshole Alejandro Cabello!' and Shawn suddenly got a snapshot of him and Camila 20 years from now her yelling, him listening, both of them loving

"He's taking it well by the sounds of it" he motioned towards the house and tried to smile but he knew there was nothing funny about this situation. His mother, the one person that should be acting as his protector had just thrown him under the bus and his entire being felt battered and bruised just at the thought of it

"My mom's on your side Shawn" Camila reached out and intertwined their fingers and he relaxed slightly knowing Camila hadn't changed her mind out about them even as they stood in the middle of 'Storm Karen'

"What did she tell him?"

"Everything you wouldn't want your girlfriends dad to know, you got kicked out of college, you got arrested for having sex with an underage girl, the fact the case was only dropped because your mom paid them off, the fact you sleep around, use her house as a brothel pretty much, you assaulted your baby brother... Thank you for that by the way" she squeezed his hand and he gave her a half smile as Alejandros deep voice bomed closer to them than expected

'She is a child Sinu, I won't have a misfit like him taking advantage of her!'

"This is how my parents communicate by the way, don't worry about the raised voices, it's a Latin thing"

"I am worried about it though, I just found you Camila" he reached out and touched her cheek, her eyes sparkling bright with tears "Is he going to stop us being together?"

Camila nodded as the first tear fell

"Mama is trying damage control but your mom didn't hold back, she put on the full show, tears and all. Shawn, why does she hate you so much?" For a second he considered telling her his deepest, darkest secret standing right there on her doorstep but he knew he would need time to explain it, to make sure she understood, so instead he just shrugged and promised her that he would tell her, one day, but not today and the way she just accepted it made his heart swell

"Can I come in and speak to your father? See if I can help him understand some of the stuff my mother has told him?"

"No, not when he's like this, there's no way he will hear you, let my mom speak to him and then maybe tomorrow..." before Camila could even finish her sentence the door swung open and a furious looking Sinu Cabello stormed out of the house and headed down the steps towards the driveway

"Mama?!" Camila called out and chased after her mother with Shawn also following behind the two woman.

"Shawn, you are coming to dinner tonight 6 o'clock. Don't be late"
