Adrien aka, Chat Noir, the black cat, was having the unluckiest days of his life. He was stuck. He didn't know what to do and who to talk to because Plagg and his father were the last people Adrien wanted to talk to. He didn't even consider Plagg as a person either.
So Adrien was stuck in his dilemma slowly sinking into the depths of his heart hoping to find an answer. And yes. The problem was Ladybug.
Chat Noir has always been in love with Ladybug but recently, things seemed to be changing. He no longer pursued Ladybug hoping to win over her attention. Instead, he seemed to have a whole other target in his heart. But his mind refused to let his heart take over. So now Adrien was stuck. In choosing between his heart and head.
Firstly, there was Ladybug. The person his mind refused to let go of. Adrien knew that Ladybug would always, no matter what, push him aside and reject him. And now, when he finally seemed to be getting over the pain of rejection, here was Ladybug showing him that she cared and all that.
And then there was Marinette. The target his heart has found. She seemed so kind to everyone yet so fierce when someone did her wrong. She seemed to have this air of confidence to her under the shy girl that stood out. Adrien knew that her heart ached every time she saw something bad happened to someone and he also knew that she'd do anything to make that person feel happy and loved. Adrien had witnessed it with his own eyes when she had tried her best to come down her raging best friend, Alya before she had been Akumatised. Adrien knew that Marinette had never meant to shout at Chloé the other day and seeing the look of pure horror in Marinette's eyes, Adrien had understood that she was truly sorry for what had happened that day.
And then there was Kagami. Adrien was positive that he did not like her in that way but she would always be there for him even when no one wasn't. Adrien knew that Marinette too supported him in everything but it was much easier to open up to Kagami as Adrien and to Marinette as Chat Noir. Kagami too was in his head along with Ladybug but he knew for a fact that Kagami did not have his heart.
The choice was simply between Ladybug and... Marinette it seems. But Adrien wasn't sure about his 'feelings' for Marinette while he was certain that some part of him still loved Ladybug. Something about Marinette always made Chat Noir open up to her about things he hadn't opened up with Ladybug or Kagami. Heck. Adrien didn't even know whether he liked Marinette in any other way than 'just a friend'.
But lately, he's been feeling strange flutterings inside his stomach whenever Marinette smiled up at him. He had never felt anything like that even with Ladybug so he had no idea what to name it.
With Ladybug, it was a completely different story. Chat Noir had fallen in love with her because of her confidence, her attitude and the authority she possessed. And now, Adrien was questioning himself whether it was truly love that he had felt or something more like admiration that he had confused with love. He was new to this whole 'love' concept after all.
Adrien tossed and turned in bed all night trying to clear his head. Even though Ladybug had mentioned that she too was having the same problem, Adrien doubted that she was having to deal with this like him. Sleepless nights, dozing off in class, and mostly, having to look at Ladybug, Marinette and Kagami with a heavy heart knowing that he's bound to break someone's heart.
"Adrien!" Called Natalie from outside his door.
Adrien got out of bed having not slept at all. He dragged himself to the washroom and came out looking like what his father always expected him to be.
Gabriel Agreste's son.
"Adrien? Are you alright?" Natalie asked seeing the bags under Adrien's eyes from all these restless nights.
