Amarillo, Tx

After Jimmy checked out all the hotels on Hwy 46 without any luck, he was told about a few hotels sitting on Hwy 27, halfway through town in a different direction. When he drove to check out the ones hed missed, he finally hit pay dirt. The only problem was theyd already left a few hours ago. The manager at the front desk recognized Gretas picture.

Before Jimmy left, he asked the manager Do you know what kind of vehicle they were driving?
The manager had to think about it before he could answer. I think it was a white SUV but I dont know the make or model. Im sorry I cant help you any better.

Jimmy went back to his car and pulled up the GPS navigation system. While he was trying to decide where to go, his phone was ringing. He looked at the caller ID and recognized the number.

Hello?

Greta called her aunt this morning. She told her about a hiking trip and a dance contest shed won while she was in Amarillo, Texas. Told her aunt shed be in Dallas, Texas by tomorrow afternoon. His P.I. spoke in a husky voice.

Jimmy thanked him and hung up. He now knew where to go. He went back to his GPS navigation system and charted his trip for Dallas next. If he couldnt get there before they did, he could still look for her.

George drove through Wichita Falls and grabbed some dinner at a Whataburger in town. They charted their route and drove straight into Dallas before stopping at the Dallas Freedom shelter.

Since they werent married, they had to sleep in separate beds again. They were signed in and brought in their luggage to their rooms. The shelter consisted of three floors. The main floor of Dallas Freedom was for church services and a kitchen and dining room. The second floor was for the women and children, if they had any with them. The third floor was for the men and any children they had with them too. Once they were settled in, they said good night and went to their own floors.

By the time Jimmy made it to Dallas, he thought Greta would be staying in another hotel so he started scouting out a few but he wasnt getting anywhere. He checked into his own room and went to sleep. The only thing on his mind was wondering where Greta might be in such a big city.

The next morning, as Greta was working on her first cup of coffee, Mr. Jackson, the man who was in charge of the shelter, walked over to sit down with her and asked about her first night.

It wasn't bad. After a long trip from Amarillo, George and I were ready for a chance to sleep. Once Im more awake, Id like to ask some questions about this shelter and the city too, and took another sip of her coffee.

George was coming down the stairs talking with another man. Ill see you at church services tonight then, sir. He walked over to hug Greta good morning before going after his own coffee.

After they finished their coffee, Greta said I told the director I had questions to ask him. Lets go talk to Mr. Jackson.

Greta knocked on the directors office door. After a male voice said come in, she opened the door and greeted Mr. Jackson again and introduced George to him.

After the men shook hands, everyone sat down. Im new to this city. I know George has friends out here but Id like to ask where the nearest police station is, to start off.

Mr. Jackson was surprised by the first question by raising his eyebrows. Are you in some sort of trouble with the law already?

Oh, no, Im not. Let me explain. She explained about the restraining order she was carrying with her and showed it to the director.
