Aunt Veras house, Sacramento, Ca

Greta was true to her word and called Jimmys attorney once she was done with her breakfast. His secretary answered the phone and put the call through to Mr. Pike at once.

Miss Isaacs, Im so glad to hear from you. Your aunt told me you were out of town. I hope you enjoyed your trip.

Yes, Mr. Pike, I did, thank you. Id like to set up a time to meet with you about what Jimmy left me, if thats alright with you.

Oh yes, Id like to meet with you right away. When Mrs. Kindle called me back and told me when youd be back in town, I immediately cleared my schedule for today. I dont have anything planned except to see you. Mr. Whitfield had a large holding and Id like to go over everything with you in person. Preferably as soon as possible. Id be happy to meet you anywhere youd like.

Am I the only person listed as his beneficiary, Mr. Pike? What about his law firm?

Oh, he had a few people in mind but he didnt have anything set in stone. I guess he didnt think hed have to worry about it for a long time. Looks like he was mistaken.

Give me a moment, she said and put the phone down.

She went to find her aunt. She was outside, sitting on the porch swing with a reading book in her lap.

Ive got Jimmy's estate attorney on hold but Id like your permission to have him come here and to have mom and dad present when he tells me everything. Do you have any objections?

Of course not. Do whatever you need to do, honey. Ill call Jackie and Bruce after youre off the phone. I know youve got a lot on your plate.

Greta thanked her and went back inside.

Alright Mr. Pike, Ill meet you at my aunts home. How does 11 oclock sound?

That sounds perfect, Miss Isaacs. Ill be there and ready to show you everything hes left for you. Like I told your aunt, you are going to be a very rich young lady.and Im not exaggerating either.

Greta thanked him and got off the phone. As she walked out of the living room, she could hear her aunt picking up the phone to call her parents. She decided to call Nikki and find out if she could come by for another visit.

She found her phone and dialed Nikkis cell. She got her voicemail and just left a message. She started feeling down again but when she looked down, her engagement ring flashed at her. She forgot for a moment she was getting married and she still hadnt planned anything yet.

How can I feel down when Im getting married to the most wonderful man Ive ever met? she asked herself.

She went back to the living room and waited for her aunt to finish talking on the phone. As Vera was hanging up the phone, she said. I have a request.

Turning around to look at her niece, she said And what might that be?

Take me into town so I can get some bridal magazines and check out some other things I might need for my wedding.

Smacking herself on the forehead, she said Oh my God, I forgot all about you getting married for a moment. I will be more than happy to help you with a ride into town and anything else you might need for this wedding.

Vera rushed for her purse in the other room and grabbed her keys on the way out the door. Shed forgotten George had the rental with him so Greta was going to need a driver for the day.

Maybe, with whatever money Jimmys left you, youll be able to afford your own car and you wont need the rental anymore.

That would be nice.
