The driver pulls to a stop in front of the bar and the bodyguard goes inside leaving us in the car for a moment. The others look outside the tinted glass trying to see where they are. He returns and opens the door to let us out. He ushers us in through a side door and straight onto the patio that appears to be newly emptied of people. Bussers hastily removing glasses and plates and wiping tables. There are long couches, loaded with pillows, under twinkling lights, near the dark river and the city lights shining beyond. I leave the others to claim their seats as I step inside to the bar to see an old friend, Andrew.
He leans over the bar. "Alexa! It's good to see you again," he says smiling. "It's been months!"
"It's been over a year, since I moved to London." I say back. He nods.
"And now you're back, with a boy band in tow!" He winks at me.
"Well, half of one anyway," I smile. "Can I get two bottles of Brunello Di Montalcino and some sparkling water- five glasses?" He nods. "And I'll just take these menus out just in case." I take a handful.
"Sure, I'll send it right out and come visit when I get a chance," he smiles broadly.
I take the menus out and set them out on the low table. Jin leans forward.
"Oh they have food!" he shouts excited as he looks over the menu with Jungkook. They speak in hushed voices trying to identify what something is. I step over to join them to help them translate. Yoongi sits down next to Taehyung. Tae is looking out over the city view, smiling, pleased.
Yoongi watches me then turns to him, "Taehyung, you better be serious about this girl." Tae looks back at him confused.
"What do you mean?" He studies his face.
"You are so used to girls liking you, no matter what you do, but this one is different. She's real. Just make sure you appreciate her and take care of her or leave her to someone who will." Yoongi points his finger at Tae's chest and tries to look serious but he may have had too many drinks to convince him.
"Hyung, I will," he says as the bartender, Andrew, steps up with the tray of bottles and glasses. He opens each bottle with skill, but speaks with a quick, nervousness in his voice.
"So here we have a Brunello Di Montalcino, it's from the mid region of Tuscany from the Sangiovese grape and the terrior-" I stop him in English.
"They don't understand what you're saying," I laugh as they look up at him confused.
"Well that's just as well because I don't know anything about wine. Are any of them single?" He smiles at them.
"Wrong crowd Andrew," I laugh remembering many previous nights sat at the patio talking to him about his relationship troubles during his breaks.
"Well, if you change your mind..." He winks directly at Jin who smiles politely as Andrew goes back inside.
I pour out the glasses and we each hold one up in toast. The city is quiet from this distance. The evening is cool and I shiver a little as a breeze moves across my skin. I sit closer to Taehyung, feeling the warmth of his body, and the joy of his spirit. It's intoxicating.
The night wears on and the glasses are emptied. We sit among a pile of empty food plates and Jin and Jungkook lay back holding their full stomachs, sated. I've had plenty of drink, more than I've had in a long time, but I'm feeling better after eating something. I sit back into Tae's arms. My heels are off, my feet resting on the couch across from me. Tae strokes my hair as he looks out over the city view.
"It's so late," Jungkook says. "I wish we didn't have to go all the way back to the hotel."
"My place has room, it's just around the corner," I offer sleepily. "Two of you would have to share a bed but there's also a big couch."
