The gentle tip tap of shoes on wood could be heard throughout the hallways of the mansion.

I peek around another corner and stare into the emptiness that is the hallway. I smile and grip the apple tighter.

I imagined I was a spy. I always like playing pretend. Pretending you have a better life for a few minutes makes everything better for a while.

Slowly and quietly, I turn the corner and walk down the hallway. When my eye lays on the door at the end I pick up my pace.

When I arrive, I look around once more before pushing at the door. The door creaks open and I walk through, quickly closing it behind me. I smile slightly once more and descent the old concrete staircase.

I arrive at the cell filled room and walk in. A low humming could be heard. Holding the apple closer to my chest, I awkwardly walk past the imprisoned countries to the cell at the end.

Once again, I arrive at my destination and smile slightly. Kneeling down, I stare into the dark cell in search for a certain polish country. The humming was clearer now.

"Poland?" I ask in an almost whisper, "I have food for you."

A beaten up and bruised boy emerges from the shadows, "For me? But not for anyone else?" Poland smiled slightly as I pass him the apple though the bars, "Thank you though."

"You think I didn't notice them not giving you food?" The polish chuckled and bites down on the apple carefully as I sit down cross-legged

While watching Poland eat, I notice my hunger increase and hear my stomach growl. I blush and wrap my arms tightly around my stomach as I see the boy look up. This makes me look down as I heat up in the embarrassment.

Then, I see a half-eaten apple roll towards me and raise my gaze.

"You're hungry, no?" Poland asks as he gestures to the apple. Shaking my head, I roll it back.

"You need it more than I do." I protest but Poland only laughs.

"I have eaten half. It's only fair if you eat the rest." I stare into the red eyes of the polish and then back to the apple before shaking my head once again.

"No. Eat it all. I insist." Poland picks the apple up and looks at me once more before nodding as well.

"Okay then." I smile very slightly and stand up. I was about to turn away when I was stopped, "What happened to your eye ger?"

I turn on my heels and look at the now standing up Poland. I was taller than him, only slightly though. He gripped onto the bars for stability because of his shaky, probably broken, legs.

"I-its nothing Poland," I stutter, cursing myself for doing so, "I swear. I just fell."

"Hm... Aright..." Poland sits down once more and the humming returns. It was a strange but mesmerising tune.

Turning, I stare at the staircase at the end of the hallway and start walking towards it. I start walking.

"Yeah Ger. What happened to your eye?" Stopping I look to my left at the country smiling behind the metal bars.

"Like I said before Czech, I fell." I state simply and go to continue walking.

"Yeah of course a failure like you did. Ha! No wonder your dad hates you." My eye widens and I slowly turn my head.

Waking towards the cell, I reach my hand through and grab the hem of his sweater, pulling him towards me.

"Watch what you say." I growl.
