"drama is for you, take the L you lose."
-I sat on the Hogwarts train reading a book about hinkypunks, I didn't have anything else to do with my spare time. I was in a booth alone since I couldn't spot Abigail or Camille anywhere. I was humming to myself.
According to this book, the Hinkypunk is a little one-legged creature and looks as if it is made of smoke. It carries a lantern with which it lures travellers into bogs. Huh, the more you know.
I suddenly heard a knock on my glass door. I looked up to Cedric Diggory standing outside of the doors with a warm smile. Oh, dear God. I smiled a bit before I motioned him to come inside. He opened the door and went inside and sat down across from me.
"All of the other booths were full." Cedric says. I chuckled a bit.
"Well at least you get to sit with someone familiar." I said. He nods. I see him looking at my book before grinning. "Hinkypunks." He said. I hummed in confusion. "They're nasty little creatures." Cedric comments before beginning to stand. He looks at me with reassurance.
"May I?" He says pointing at the seat beside me.
"Oh, go ahead." I said. He gets up from his seat and sits down next to me. I felt my heart quicken. He looks over my shoulder pointing at the text on the book.
"A Hinkypunk is a diminutive, one-legged magical creature with the appearance of wispy blue, grey or white smoke. It has a proclivity for luring travellers off of their paths at night, into treacherous bogs or wetlands under the guise of a helpful, lamp-bearing being. They are impish varmints who revel in inconveniencing magical folk and non-magical folk alike. They can propel fireballs far from their lamps, causing serious damage." Cedric read. He was so... intelligent in a way. It was almost captivating.
"I encountered one not too long ago and it wasn't pretty." He said with a slight grin. I giggled. I went to turn the page but my hand knocked into his.
"Oh, um. I'm so sorry." I said stuttering. Oh God, oh God, what was happening? My head was practically screaming at me to run for the hills. "It's fine." He chuckles a bit. I closed the book quickly before putting it to the side. I sat up realizing how close we were.
"So how do you think this school year is going to turn out?" I asked the boy trying to defuse the tension. "Hopefully quite well." He says. He leans forward before looking at me. I felt myself blush.
"What do you think?" He asked.
"I-I. I...well..." Come on, Violet, say something."These past few years have been quite hectic for me so I'm hoping this year is different." I said. His eyes... man they made me lost for words. They were a deep grey that you could fall into.
"This is what I get for thinking the universe would send me something ama..." I heard Camille's voice and I immediately snapped out of the trance. We looked up to see her eyes were slightly widened and she glanced between the two of us before smirking. I saw Abigail behind her looking at us with suggestive eyes.
If I had the opportunity to die right now I would be six feet under.
"...zing." She finishes before looking at Cedric. "Hello, and who might you be?" She asked. They went inside of my booth and sat down across from me and Cedric.
"I'm Cedric Diggory. You are?" He asked.
"Camille Rosewood, Violet's best friend." Camille said, holding out her hand gracefully. He shakes it with a smile. "And I'm Abigail Greenbottom, her other best friend." She said before giving him a grim smile. I hid my face with my hands. This was so embarrassing.
