"rejoice, rejoice."
-I walked past everyone, going into the halls. I ran and ran until I found a private hall where no one was there. I leaned against a wall beginning to sob and let it all out. I did so quietly so no one would hear. Tears fell from my face and onto my dress.
His words repeated in my head like a broken record player.
"God, if I had a date like you with that face I'd run for the hills as well. Poor, Violet, date has run for the hills because of how ugly she looks."
"Honestly, look how pathetic you look. I mean who would ever like someone as dimwitted and sensitive as you?"
God he was right. I'd just proven him correct by running off and crying like a child. I slid down the wall and clutched my legs and cried silently. Just amongst myself. I was supposed to be strong, but now I'm completely breaking down in the hallways of Hogwarts. Pathetic. Just as he said.
I sniffled before hearing the echo footsteps slowly coming down the hall. They then stopped. I felt someone standing right in-front of me.
"What are you doing in here crying when there's a party just waiting for you to join again?" I heard Fred say. Fred. My heart softened. I looked up at him. I wiped my tears a bit before giving him a halfhearted smile.
"It's nothing, just Draco poking." I said. Fred chuckles a bit.
"Don't believe anything the old codger says. He's speaking through his teeth." He said with a grin. I smiled a bit. Suddenly soft music started to play throughout the halls. It was almost muffled but we could still hear it.
Fred looks down at me before holding out his hand for me to take, he had a slight grin on his lips. I sighed a bit. There's no harm in dancing after a breakdown, right? I grabbed it softly. He pulled me up to my feet and grabbed my other hand.
He suddenly started twisting my body around by my hands. I felt myself begin to smile a bit. A warm feeling started to fill my veins. Fred giggles.
"Loosen up, come on!" He said. I started to dance with the boy before laughing. The music picked up. He twisted me around the room while making silly faces. I laughed as he pretended to salsa dance with me. He was so cheesy.
He pulled me close to him and we swayed and swayed. He twirled me again. He was such a chaotic dancer. I wasn't surprised though considering his personality.
"There ya go!" He said laughing. I shimmed a bit before gasping as he lifted me into the air. I landed onto my feet as we spun around the hallway. God, it felt like such a breather.
We shimmed again and twirled dramatically. We got completely lost into the music. He pulled me close and swayed with me, holding me close. I buried my face into his shoulder as I heard the song begin to fade, Fred did the same. My heart beat slowed drastically as we just swayed peacefully.
I hugged onto him tightly as I felt a single tear fall from my eye. Draco's nasty words fled back to the surface. I let go of Fred and looked at him with a defeated expression. The depressing feeling had come back as soon as the song ended.
Fred looked at me with sympathy before resting his forehead on mine. I closed my eyes and sighed. I opened my eyes and looked at Fred's face. I suddenly felt him cup my cheek and wipe away the warm tear that was once there. His hands were so soft. I tried my hardest to keep myself from staring at the redhead.
No, Violet. Keep the footing. One, two, three, four. Steady. Now, switch! Here comes the crescendo. One, two, three, four. One, two, three, four.
I felt his breath on my lips, our faces were centimeters apart. I can't. Cedric. Fred held my hands softly, he had a small smile on his lips. I immediately part away from the redhead before glancing down at our hands. I take my hands away from his before walking around him and out the hallway.
Even though I felt a certain way towards the redhead I couldn't betray Cedric. That's not who I was.

flashbackI saw Violet run off like she was going to break down by the simple knock on glass. I grew angry. He just had to spoil everything Violet took joy in. I looked at Draco as he stood there, back against the wall. He looked stunned and almost sorry.
As if. I walked up to the boy, pushing him. He grunted in pain as his head hit the wall.
"Are you happy now?" I said with seething anger.
"Now that you've gotten what you wanted are you satisfied? You have broken a girl stronger than a thousand armies. She's never cried in a day in her life and now she has because of you." I said pointing at his chest. He looked a bit frightened. His mouth was completely sealed like he had nothing to say.
"Don't talk to her ever again." I said sternly before walking away from the three. And I meant it. If he had so much looked her way I would destroy him.
From the inside out.
I tried following where Violet went. I could only see the ends of her dress as she turned corners. Slow down, Violet, geez. I turned a corner but quickly stopped myself. I hid behind a pillar as I heard soft sobbing. My heart ached.
God, Draco was such a prick.
Suddenly I heard:
"What are you doing in here crying when there's a party just waiting for you to join again?" I heard Fred say. Oh my gosh!
"It's nothing, just Draco poking." Violet said. Fred chuckles a bit.
"Don't believe anything the old codger says. He's speaking through his teeth." He said. I smirked before an idea popped into my head. I pulled out my wand and whispered:
"Musicaio."
A song started playing like someone was listening to it in another hall. It sounded a bit muffled but it was still beautiful sounding.
Fred looks down at her before holding out his hand for Violet to take. She sighed. She grabbed his hand. He pulled her up to her feet and grabbed her other hand. He suddenly started twisting her body around by her hands. He was indeed a charmer. She began to smile a bit. Fred giggles.
"Loosen up, come on!" He said. She started to dance with the boy before she finally laughed. The music picked up. He twisted her around the room while making silly faces. Violet laughed as he pretended to salsa dance with her. Seriously, salsa dancing?
He pulled her close to him and they swayed and swayed. He twirled her again.
"There ya go!" He said laughing. She shimmed a bit before gasping as he lifted her into the air. I put a hand over my mouth and laughed quietly, She landed back onto her feet as they spun around the hallway.
They shimmed again and twirled dramatically. God, were they terrible dancers. He pulled her in close and swayed with Violet. She buried her face into his shoulder as I heard the song begin to fade, Fred did the same. I honestly felt something dwindling between the two. Like unspoken words to a poem, a sweet serenade.
She hugged onto him tightly and I saw a single tear escape onto her cheek. She let go of Fred and looked at him with a defeated expression. I felt her saddened feeling before be swept to the surface again. Oh, no. I frowned a bit.
Fred looked at her with sympathy and I wouldn't say this out loud but... love, before resting his forehead on hers. She closed her eyes and sighed. She opened them back up and looked at Fred's face. He then suddenly cups her cheek and wipes away the tear that was once there. I could see her glancing down at her shoes so she couldn't look at the boy straight in the eye.
She felt something. I knew she did. But, she was dating Cedric, right?
Their faces were centimeters apart. Fred held her hands like he knew she was going to leave, but he still had a small smile on his lips. She immediately parts away from the redhead before glancing down at their hands. She takes her hands away from his before walking around him and out the hallway.
I sighed before running my hands through my hair. Oh, Violet.
I saw Fred stand there and watch her as she walked away. He didn't look hurt, which was a surprise. I think he was somewhat happy that he got to distract her for just 50 seconds.
That's how long the song was.
50 seconds.
