It was now time for the challenge, Camille had given me the incantation for the transfiguration. Me and Camille were walking towards the Black Lake. Thousands of students were in tall looking watch towers that were built in the middle of the lake.

"Now all you have to is say mysticai mermaidus." She reminded me again. I sighed nervously.

*

Everyone had gotten inside of the three watchtowers. I was on the last floor looking out to the lake. Okay I can do this, just get past the mermaids and take back whatever they took.

"Welcome to the second task. Last night, something was stolen from each of our champions. A treasure of sorts. These four treasures, one for each champion, now lie on the bottom of the Blake Lake. In order to win, each champion need only find their treasure and return to the surface." Dumbledore's voice boomed through my ears.

I take off my swimsuit cover up and hand it to Camille who stood behind me with an uneasy expression. I breathed in and out slowly. The other champions stood in a line with me, ready to jump in the body of water.

"You may begin at the sound of the cannon." He said. Suddenly a loud boom went through my ears and my heart jumped.

"Mysticai mermaidus." I whispered before swan diving into the water. Sounds immediately muffled and the water around me was freezing cold. I suddenly felt my legs become restricted by something. I looked down and at my legs and see a beautiful iridescent pink mermaid tail. Wicked.

Okay, Violet, focus. I swam around the place and it was actually really easy. The need to hold my breath immediately went away and I breathed out. Okay, the thing I'm looking for is at the bottom of the lake. Now all I have to do is get there.

I could see very clearly from the transfiguration spell. Seaweed littered the lake as I glided towards the bottom. I suddenly saw something zoom past my peripheral vision. I snapped my head towards that direction. Nothing.

It was probably just a piece of seaweed flying past me or something. I kept swimming and swimming until I saw something in the distance. It was quite hard to see so I decided to get closer.

I suddenly see something swim in-front of me. It was... a mermaid. But, not the mermaids I grew up with. She had a trident in her hands and she was glaring me down.

"Who are you to trespass on our waters?" I heard it say. Suddenly I see two more mermaids swim up beside the main one. Oh Merlin.

"I'm trying to recover the treasure you took from me." I responded back. The mermaids looked shocked. Extremely shocked. What did I do? One mermaid looks at another. "How does she know how to speak Aquan?" It said. Aqua, what? The main mermaid suddenly put the trident up to my neck. My eyes widened and I put my hands up in surrender. She looked absolutely angry.

"Who are you? Are you one of our kind?" It asked, interrogating me. "Of course she's not. Look at her tail. No one from these waters has a tail that beautiful." One said.

"My name is Violet Goldhorn." I said. They suddenly stopped. The main mermaid in the middle put down her trident slowly and looked at me with widened eyes.

"Goldhorn?" Another mermaid says. The mermaids muttered amongst themselves in disbelief.

"You are a Goldhorn?" One of the mermaids asked. I nodded my head. Why were they so surprised?

"Your Grandmother Aiko Goldhorn was a very powerful witch and banshee. Since our powers are related to voice, she made great friends with us merfolk. In fact, the Goldhorn bloodline has always been family to us. When we heard of the passing of Aiko, we grieved for years on end. But, we now know that she still lives in the heart of her family members." It said.
