He didn't need her to say it.
Not when her pulse was thudding against his mouth like a war drum. Not when her leg stayed curled around his waist, holding him close, like she didn't dare let go.
He kissed her again, slower this time. Deep. Savoring. Like a man learning a language in her mouth. Her hand splayed low over his abdomen, over the chiseled muscle and the sharp v-line that had a thick vein trailing underneath his swim trunks.
Her fingers tugged at his waistband, bunching the fabric. She was trying not to make a sound. Trying not to melt.
He made it impossible.
Luca pulled back just enough to meet her gaze.
His hand stayed firm on her hip, thumb dragging slowly over her skin, like he was memorizing her shape. Her pulse pounded in her throat, everywhere.
"Stop me," he murmured again, voice rough velvet, eyes darker than dusk. "If this isn't what you want."
Kaia's fingers tightened at his waistband. She didn't speak. She couldn't.
Every warning, every line she'd drawn in her head, blurred under the heat of his presence. He smelled like salt and sun and something deeper—something dangerous.
"You can't," Luca whispered. "Because you want this too."
Her jaw clenched. But her silence betrayed her.
So he leaned in again—slower this time, deliberate. The brush of his lips barely grazed hers, a promise withheld.
"Tell me to walk away, Kaia."
Still nothing.
And that was all he needed.
Luca's hand stayed at her hip, thumb still circling that same inch of bare skin with maddening patience. His other hand slid up—slow, reverent—over the curve of her back, the nape of her neck, into her hair.
Her breath shuddered against his mouth.
She hated this. The way he unraveled her without even trying. The way her body betrayed her loyalty to fear.
He pulled back just enough to look at her.
"Say something," he murmured, voice rough. "Before I forget how careful I promised I'd be."
Kaia met his eyes, barely able to breathe.
"You're already forgetting," she whispered, like a challenge.
A flicker passed through his gaze. Something that burned.
And then he kissed her again.
Deeper this time. Less restraint. Like her words had given him permission. His body felt deliciously solid against her, all muscle and strength. Luca was... overwhelming.
