-3rd Person POV-

After last night's turn of events, (Y/n) wasn't able to sleep. All she could think about was Kakashi. The man was living in her head rent free. She could still feel him on her body. She could still feel his soft kisses. Every time Kakashi popped into her brain, even with the most innocent of thoughts, her face would begin to heat up and her stomach would be filled with butterflies.

The not so innocent thoughts were the worse. Poor (Y/n) had to take a couple of cold showers throughout the whole night. She didn't understand how such perverted thoughts would pop into her brain.

It took a few kisses and a look at his face and now she's whipped. All she could think about was him and it was driving her insane.

(Y/n) was just staring up at her ceiling, trying to understand these feelings. She's only felt this way with Shisui and she didn't even know if she was really ready to move on.

The thought of someone replacing Shisui and her love for him, hurt her deeply.

The butterflies Kakashi created, slowly turned into guilt that was beginning to boil over.

She felt as if she betrayed her one true love. She betrayed Shisui.

She eventually got up out of her bed and took a long shower to try and clear her mind. Maybe she shouldn't have given in, maybe she should've. Maybe it was time for her to move on with her life, but at the same time, she didn't want to forget all of the precious memories she and her late lover and friend shared.

She finally realized she stayed in the shower long enough when she finally snapped out of her thoughts, coming back to her reality.

She stepped out of the shower and dried herself off before wrapping the towel around her body before starting her daily routine and once she was finished, she got ready to go out, putting on her more casual attire that didn't involve any ninja gear.

She just wanted to be normal for a day.

She didn't bother with breakfast or a snack, she just left her apartment and made her way to the Haruno residence, placing a firm knock on the door.

After a few minutes, a man and woman opened the door. "Who may you be?" The blonde woman asked skeptically.

"I'm (Y/n)-"
"(Y/n)- Sensei!!!" Sakura yelled before pushing her parents out of the way to give the woman a hug.

(Y/n) stumbled a bit but gained her balance before placing a soft smile on her face, hugging the pink-haired girl back.

Sakura managed to wiggle her way into having a special place in her heart. In a way, she saw a little bit of herself in Sakura. She saw her potential.

"Oh, you're Sakura's Sensei. You and Sasuke are all she talks about. Have fun Sakura, be home in time for dinner!" Sakura's mother said as she went to hug the girl goodbye, before returning back inside followed by her husband.

Oh how (Y/n) wishes she could see her parents just one more. She missed her mother's hugs and her father's jokes. She missed her people and the Village she grew up in. Nothing was left of it. She was lucky enough to take some pictures and photo albums, but still. It's not the same. She was left for dead at the age of 5 with almost nothing.

Nothing could fill these voids inside of her heart.

(Y/n) snapped out of her thoughts as she felt a hand grab hers.

"Hey (Y/n)-Sensei!! I see Hinata, Kurenai-Sensei, and Ino up ahead!" Sakura said with excitement filling her voice. She dragged her daydreaming Sensei along to catch up with the others.

"(Y/n), it's been a while. I heard from a little bird that there's a new love interest in your life. I didn't know you liked the mysterious type," Kurenai teased the younger.

(Y/n) almost stopped in her tracks, but not wanting to cause a scene, she continued.

"Kurenai, what are you talking about?" (Y/n) asked even though she knew the answer. She wanted to know what this gossip was about.

"(Y/n), sweetie, Gai, and Asuma saw Kakashi walk out of your apartment building and they saw him on your balcony. So, you gonna give me the details, or is it not suitable for our students to hear?" Kurenai joked.

(Y/n)'s ears grew hot and red. Not only from embarrassment but also anger. Gai and Asuma simply need to mind their own business and if Kakashi spilled the details of the little make out session, she'll kill him.

"Nothing happened between Kakashi and I," she fibbed. "All we did was talk about the Chunin exams." She defended herself.

"Was that before or after your little make out session"
"H-how do you-"
"Kakashi told Asuma and Asuma told me. He also told Asuma he liked you. Do you like him?" Kurenai asked the woman next to her.

(Y/n) almost stopped in her tracks. Does she like him? Did she have feelings for the mysterious jonin she grew close to over the last two months?
"I-" before she could finish her thought, she was interrupted by a squeal.

"WE'RE HERE!!!" Ino and Sakura both yelled with excitement.

-TIME SKIP-

"Ahhhh~" Sakura sighed out. "Wow. My bones needed this after that mission." Sakura said as she sunk deeper into the water.

"Say, Senseis, what do you know about boys," Ino asked.

"Boys? What do you want to know?" Kurenai asked.

"Well," Ino started, "How do you know if a boy likes you?" the blue-eyed girl asked.

(Y/N) thought about all of her memories with the man she had fallen for and a smile made its way onto her face, before letting out a small chuckle. "You won't know right away. Either you're too oblivious, or he doesn't know himself, but trust me you'll know."

"Is that so?" Kurenai asked with a slight smirk.

"Yep. Boys are odd creatures. Some will tell you that they like you straight to your face. Others will tell you by their actions. Nonetheless, you'll know. Now it may not be right away, but when the time is right, that's how you both will know. Also, you can often tell by the way that they look at you" (Y/N) said with a small smile.

Kurenai looked at (Y/N) and a smile made its way onto her face. She was surprised to see that slightly younger kunoichi actually had some wisdom.

"Maybe you should take your own advice Sensei," Sakura said.

"And what do you mean by that," (Y/N) asked with her brow raised.

"Well isn't it obvious," Sakura started. "Kakashi-Sensai totally likes you. He only arrives on time when you're there. He looks at you like it was love at first sight. COME ON!!! Let my ship sail, Sensei. Give him a chance!" Sakura said dramatically.

(Y/N) simply rolled her eyes and sighed. "Sakura, it's not that easy. Kakashi is a good guy and an amazing nin-"

"You're afraid, aren't you?" Hinata asked quietly.

(Y/N) instantly shut up before letting out a sigh. "There is a small amount of truth to that. I'm also not sure if I'm ready to let go and that scares me. Also, we are shinobi. In the shinobi world, anything can happen and I'm not ready for that. Not again." (Y/N) said honestly.

Falling in love with a ninja can only lead to pain and constant worry that the next mission could be the last. Constant anxiety that the person you love could never come back. That the next "I love you" could be the last.

"Will you ever fall in love again," Kurenai asked.

"Honestly, I don't have an answer for that. People always say 'give it time, but the hole in my heart is telling me that time won't heal it, it'll just numb it a little more." (Y/N) said while looking at her reflection in the water.

Sakura felt bad for her Sensei. She couldn't imagine what it was like. Losing the love of your life. Losing the person who made you feel whole.

"Maybe when the time and feeling is right, I'll consider, but right now, I can't bring myself to it." (Y/N) said as she sunk deeper into the water as she tried to finally relax
