~Nobody's POV~
Squad 7 were finally back in the village after their long and tiring mission. The second they entered the gates, they made a beeline to the hokage's office, hoping for a nice couple of days off. After giving Lord Third a full report, he agreed to give them three days off.
-Y/n's POV-
Three days to relax was all I needed. I turned to Sakura and pat her head. "How about we have our Girls' Day tomorrow. When you have the chance, invite Ino and Hinata." I said as I made my way to the door and bid everyone goodbye before heading home.
As I walked home, I stopped at the store and picked up some wine and some things I probably needed for dinner. All I wanted tonight was some relaxation and self care.
I paid for everything and made my way back to my apartment. I placed the groceries on the ground and began to remove my sandals before entering. I grabbed my groceries and placed them in the kitchen before cleaning up a bit.
Once I finished cleaning up my apartment, I made a light dinner that consisted of beef dumplings and rice.
When I finished my dinner, I did the dishes quickly before making my way to the bathroom. I ran myself a nice warm bath to try soothe my still aching bones.
I stepped into the tub and sat down, enjoying the warmth as I soaked my aching body. I sunk down a bit and closed my eyes, taking a small cat-nap as the warm water comforted me.
~Small Time Skip~
I finally woke up due to the fact that the once warm water was now running a bit on the cold side. I got out and drained the water before wrapping my body up in my fluffy towel. I dried off my body and applied my lotion and moisturizer before eventually getting dressed. It was nothing much, just a cropped tank top and some shorts. I put my hair down and brushed it out gently, getting out all of the knots and tangles.
I eventually left my bathroom and made my way to the living room. I walked over to my music player and hit play, turning it up a bit as I went to open a new bottle of wine. With my glass of wine, I grabbed one of my books and went to sit out on my balcony. It was nice and warm as the sun slowly began to set.
I grew bored of my book and just set it down on the table beside me.I slowly took a sip of what was in my cup before placing my glass down. I closed my eyes as I hummed along to the song that was playing.
"Please don't try and kiss me on the sidewalk on your cigarette break. I can't afford to love someone who isn't dying by mistake in Silver Lake." I sang along quietly to myself.
"Normally, when someone sings along, they truly resonate with the lyrics and the meaning. Well that's at least what I think." A voice interrupted me and my thinking.
I opened my eyes to see Kakashi, leaning on the railing, looking at the view with his back turned.
"Sometimes I think I'm just meant to be alone. Everyone I've ever loved is dead and I can't afford to love anyone else at this point." I said honestly. "Besides that, what are you doing here?" I asked him.
-Kakashi's POV-
"Sometimes I think I'm just meant to be alone. Everyone I've ever loved is dead . I can't afford to love anyone else at this point. Besides that, what are you doing here?" I know what she means all too well. In all honesty, I don't even know what I'm doing here.
I turned around and looked at her before moving to sit next to her, "I was just going on my regular village stroll. I was passing by and when I saw you, I thought I would come and keep you company." I said giving her my signature closed eye smile. "Just so you know, with me around, you won't be alone anymore. We're friends right?" I asked rhetorically.
She sent me a small smile before chuckling a little. "Yeah we're friends. So, friend, would you like to come in for a drink? After the last couple of weeks, you look like you need one." She said as she stood up. "I'd love to." I said as I soon followed her actions.
When we walked inside, she ordered me to sit down as she walked into her kitchen. As I sat there, I couldn't help but to stare at her. Her (s/c) skin illuminated in the light and I could see every scar from every battle, every detail and every curve. Those made her even more beautiful.
(Y/n) eventually came back with my glass, her glass and a the wine bottle itself. "It's nothing too fancy, just something I picked up today." she said giving me one of her signature smiles as she poured and handed me a glass.
"I'm not too picky. Thank you." I said, giving her one of my smiles in return.
-3rd Person POV-
(Y/n) sat down next to Kakashi and enjoyed his company. Yeah Kakashi didn't really talk much, but she kind of liked that about him. She liked how they could just sit in comfortable silence and then eventually have a long conversation about anything.
"So the chunin exams are coming up soon," (Y/n) started, "Should we nominate them? I mean they've definitely grown." She said before taking a drink.
Kakashi looked at her and thought about it, "I think we should. Like you said, they have grown and I know we can agree that Naruto has grown the most." he said as he took sip of his drink.
Something suddenly popped into Kakashi's head. "Can I ask you something?" he asked, getting a simple hum in return. "When I was in the Anbu, there was a time where Itachi Uchiha had to follow you on missions. What was that about?" He asked curiously.
The woman next to him tensed and tightened the grip on her glass. "When Shisui died, I was no longer myself. I thought I didn't deserve to live. I treated every mission as if it was my last one; I planned on them being my last. I would always act recklessly; I would always go in on my own, I purposely lowered my guard and my skills. I did all of that so my death wouldn't be seen as cowardly. Itachi and my other comrades would always intervene and change what would've been my fate." She said not being able to look Kakashi in the eye.
"I was simply waiting to die."
She felt like just by admitting all of that, he'd view her as a coward or a crybaby who couldn't accept death.
Kakashi, on the other hand, simply placed both of their glasses down and pulled her in for a hug. He rubbed her back soothingly before pulling away. "You know, I don't think Shisui would be too happy to see you so soon. He would want you to be happy because he loved you so much."
(Y/n) felt her heart skip a beat when those words left his mouth. A pink tint made its way to her cheeks as she looked away, avoiding his onyx eyes.
Kakashi saw how she avoided his gaze, and in all honesty, he thought it was adorable. He slowly pulled his mask down and held her face in his hands, before crashing his lips into hers.
(Y/n) was shocked, she wasn't really expecting this. She felt so many emotions and thought so many thoughts. That guilt was building up in the pit of stomach, but slowly she melted into the kiss. Maybe she needed this. Maybe she needed to feel some form of love.
Slowly, (Y/n) kissed back as she held onto Kakashi's shoulders. His lips were just so soft and perfect. Its been so long since she's been kissed like this and she missed the feeling. She couldn't help but to melt into it.
After a while, Kakashi pulled away and kissed her forehead. "You're so beautiful." he said as he caressed her cheek.
That singular sentence made her blush profusely."S-shut up! No I'm not." she said as she looked away, causing Kakashi to chuckle. "Whatever you say, beautiful." he said before giving her a peck on the lips. "If anyone is beautiful, it's you, Kakashi."
What she said caused the heat to rise to Kakashi's face. "Whatever." he said as he scratched the back of his neck. "Just so you know, I think the scars on your body make you look even more beautiful." He said with a smile.
"I should get going,"Kakashi said as he stroked her head. "I'll try to stop by tomorrow, only if you'll let me." he said as he pressed one final kiss on the top of her head, before pulling his mask up. (Y/n) stared at Kakashi with butterflies and watched him leave.
