INTRODUCTION
〰♣♣〰♣♣〰

It was 1991 when I gave my life to Christ. Before then, December 31st, 1972 happened. I had to say hello to the world.

Not my finest moment knowing the kind of world she is, as if I had a choice.

It's funny how she welcomed me into her warm bosom as a mother would, and took the woman who brought to me into this world. I thought I had a new mom but, as cruel as the world is, she left me alone with no one to love me. Not even my family.

Although, I wasn't a saint before I knew Christ but being sold out as payment for my father's debt due to his gambling habit wasn't a surprise. As the last child of the family of five and as the black sheep of the family, my fate was decided, sealed even. Only God can save me now.

ACT 1

Scene 1

Sunday, December 31st, 1995
A street in Lagos mainland
(At God Reign Church)
{Enter Pastor and Uyai}

UYAI

(Genuflecting) Daddy, messiere

[Interpretation: Good morning]

PASTOR ATANG

Messiere nde, God bless you my daughter. Happy birthday, dear.

[Interpretation: Good morning too]

UYAI

Thank you sir. You remembered?

PASTOR ATANG

How can I forget? Uyai, how are you?

UYAI

I'm fine daddy. How is mummy? I didn't see her in church today. I wanted to ask Edidiong but she disappeared even before I could blink.

PASTOR ATANG

(Laughing a bit loud at what Uyai said about Eddy) Mummy traveled and she's returning today. I'm sure Eddy went home to await her return. How about Ubong, your husband. I barely see him in church these days. I hope all is well with him?

UYAI

(Sighing) All is well daddy.

PASTOR ATANG

Are you sure? It certainly doesn't seem like it, from the tone of your voice, Uyai?

UYAI

(Forcing a smile across her face) Daddy, all is well. I'll let him know you asked after him. Hopefully next Sunday you'll see him.
