a whole school week had gone by, and hongjoong was surprisingly able to avoid seonghwa well. he would show up to all of his classes earlier, and leave with everyone else so he could blend in with the crowd. he didn't even bother looking for seonghwa, because he didn't want to see his face.
he even took the risk of skipping detention when he got it again. it was all just because he saw seonghwa hug a boy, but why did hongjoong have to feel this way? he wished that it would've been him he was hugging, even though they had only been talking for a week.
thoughts kept rushing to his head as he started to walk home, the next monday. that was until someone had stopped in front of him. hongjoong hadn't even noticed because he was to distracted and nearly ran into the person, until they stopped him by his shoulders.
"you okay? you seem like you're in a whole another universe." they joked, hongjoong now realizing that there was now someone in front of him. he looked, seeing a smiley seonghwa. "seonghwa?" he questions, confused why he was here in the first place.
"it's really hard to catch you around school lately, you're like a ghost. you're not avoiding me, right? am i annoying?" hongjoong instantly shakes his head at the last part, "you're not. annoying, i mean.." he trails off, not knowing how to respond.
"that's a relief." he smiles reassuringly, "so, friends?" hongjoong doesn't respond at first, he only looks at seonghwa in shock. "h-huh?"
"i realized that approaching you about your struggles the other day was a wrong way to say i wanted to be friends with you, and i have for a while actually just.. i didn't know how." seonghwa says honestly, "we can be friends, right?" he asks once more, hongjoong nodding in response while he finds some words to say.
"are you sure?" hongjoong asks, making seonghwa furrow his eyebrows. "what do you mean am i sure? i wouldn't be asking you if i wasn't," seonghwa smiles once more. "you just seemed really quiet whenever i would see you, something in me told me that you and i would make great friends." hongjoong nods his head in response, humming softly.
"i'll see you around school then?" hongjoong asks, wanting so badly to get out of this conversation. "yeah, you will." seonghwa winks, making hongjoong blush again.
"bye seonghwa." hongjoong says, before quickly walking away. he wanted to avoid seonghwa, and now they were friends? there's no way hongjoong can avoid him now, he would feel bad if he did.
the only thing he would have to worry about, is falling for seonghwa. with him and his damn winks and flirty comments, hongjoong was sure he would fall for him. he had to keep that from happening, because seonghwa obviously had someone else.
