Author's definition of reading.
Well, according to me, reading is a fantasy, an escape from the real, cruel world!
Of course,I wouldn't judge books that show us life in its real color because I myself, have read equally amazing books that deeply zoom into the characters of dear life.
Reading is imagination, the key to one's real self. Whatever you imagine, people may not understand but you alone see it and it's up to you to go for it or leave it.
To enjoy this story, sit back and try to put yourself in the shoes of the characters. I mean ride along with me on this road of ecstasy, because this is what reading is about, imagination! My name is Gold and this story is a property of mine. Do not try to plagiarize. Nobody wants your stolen compilation.
I'm a new writer. I'm not perfect so there'll definitely be mistakes in the chapters. I'll keep making changes until the story is rid of all errors. Please do well to vote, comment and share. I would be glad if I get notified in the comments section about any unintentionally made error. I need this motivation to keep me going.
Enjoy the story!*******
I can't believe I am leaving this house, the house where I've spent all eighteen years of my life. But I've got to since the only college I got accepted into is in Washington. Not that I'm not brilliant; at least I was until my dad died in an accident about a year ago. That incident shattered me. I still have nightmares about it.
I take one last look at my room. Hell am I going to miss it.
"Maddie, our ride is here" ,mom calls from downstairs.Oh! I forgot to introduce myself. I am Madison Song. My mom's Trisha and were leaving for Washington.
I hurry downstairs. My mom has already packed our stuff into the moving truck and is taking a look at the hall.
"I'm going to miss this place so much"
"So am I , mom but we've gotta move on right?"After dad died, everything got to a standstill. The reality was too cruel to accept but life moves on ." Let's go for this , Maddie"
The drive to Washington was quiet. I guess Mom was thinking same as i , we've left dad's house.
We got to Washington in three hours.
" Thanks for the ride" " It was nothing, Ma'am"Mom opens the door to our new home and it took a while for me to adjust to the place for it was so breathtaking.
" Wow, Mom ; this place is better than our old home" " Yeah, hope you like it here" "I already do"
Mom insisted we packed just a few things and now I know why we even left the furniture. This house has everything we need." I wanted it to be a surprise, Maddie. That's why we left almost everything in our old house, I already bought new furniture and everything"
Mom is a nurse. She had to get a transfer to one of the hospitals here. Plus she never lets me travel alone so she suggested we move here together. This house must have cost a lot but she's not going to tell me that.
I just love her so much." Your room's upstairs, the second door on your right" " OK mom" " Mom, I love it" I scream to her. " Of course you do dear. Get some rest. Tomorrow we'll leave for your college to get the paper work done and I've already paid your tuition. Good night"
"Good night, mom"I brush my teeth, take a quick shower, put on my pyjamas and jump onto my bed with a loud sigh.
Many thoughts rush through my head now: how's college going to be for a random girl like me?,How many friends am I going to make since I've pushed the ones I had away. I just hope college changes me back to my old self.
I drift off to sleep think about what college has in stall for me.
