School was not starting early this semester so it was my new job getting all my attention.
I arrived at work early. Steve was already there with Mr.Lawkins.
" Good morning, everyone."
" Well, hello darling!" Steve remarked with a smirk." And how are you today?" He added.
" I'm very fine, thank you. Thanks for your concern, my dear friend." I said with a smile.
" Hope you're ready to get me more money." Mr. Lawkins joked.
" Aye,aye, Sir!" Steve and I said in unison.
The restaurant was not so packed today but all the same, it was quite okay.
I was taking an order when I saw Olive, Jace, Gabby and Louis enter.
My poor little heart skipped a beat. What was it about Jace that made my humble self behave differently.
Olive took notice of me and gave me a wave. I waved back.
They sat at a table I was assigned to.
I went to their table after I had delivered my last order before theirs.
" Hi Maddie!" Gabby and Louis waved me over.
" Maddie, you didn't tell me you were taking your shifts here. We're regulars." She said and winked.
" Well, you never asked." I shrugged.
" So what can I get you guys?"
I said while taking my pen and notepad from my black apron to take their orders.
They gave their orders and I wrote them down.
" Strawberry for Olive, Mint for Louis,
Cherry for Gabby and chocolate chip for Jace."
I went over their orders and the nodded in approval and Jace as always behaves like the asshole he is.
" Do we look like we ordered anything else?" Jace said.
I rolled my eyes at him.
" Do always have to be a jerk?" I asked and he just shrugged," Can't help it."
I shook my head at his cockiness.
" What's your problem, man? Chill!" Gabby said.
" Hey! Jace! Will you stop this? Maddie is a friend of ours and I'm not going to tolerate you being rude to her anymore. So you better be on your best behaviour. " Olive swatted his shoulder.
" Yeah! You should really open up." Louis added.
" Oh!Don't bother guys! I've got to know that Jace here is an asshole. I'll probably get used to it." I said and winked.
The rest ,including Jace ,had their mouths hanging open. I bet it's because no one gets to call Jace an asshole in a public place and get away with it.
Maddie Almighty just did suckers.( a/n-- evil laugh)
" I'll go get your orders." I said sweetly and they quickly recovered from how I handled Jace and went back to scolding him.
And for Jace, what exactly can I say about him? Looks like he just finds solace in acting like a jerk.
