It was my first day at my job. I had a really good pay too. I wanted to help Mom pay the bills. I couldn't let her face this hell alone.
I got there and Mr. Lawkins, the owner of the restaurant, gave me my uniform, a jeans pencil skirt that stopped mid- thigh and a white short- sleeved shirt.
It wasn't bad and I actually got to wear toms instead of heels. Way to go,Mr. Lawkins!
" You're the new girl, ain't you? Hi! I'm Steve. I'll be waiting along side you. Steve was kinda cute with his brown hair and piercing sunshine eyes. He was also very nice upon meeting me for the first time, unlike someone. Jace.
god! Hold your horses Maddie! What has Jace got to do with this?
The fact that he was rude to you make you nuts.
Hey subconscious! You're supposed to be helping me out of this not making it worse! I quickly brush away all thoughts of Jace and focus on Steve.
" I'm Maddie. Nice to meet you. I hope we do well together." I said with a small smile.
It just clicked! Steve is officially my new favorite person.
" C'mon! Let's make your first day one of your best days at work. If the customers like your service enough, you get tips and boy are they good." He winked.
Mr. Lawkins showed me the tables I was assigned to. The first table had a couple who were kissing very passionately so I was unnoticed. I put down the fries and burger they ordered and carried on. The lady at the second table gave me a smile when I brought in her order.
The people there were nice enough and I had Steve to guide me like Moses and the freaking Israelites.
Mr. Lawkins was also nice. So my first day at work went well. Yay!
When I was done with the shift, I bid bye to Mr. Lawkins and he commended me for my good servicing. Believe me, I was surprised at me. I never knew I could wait so well. I better start waiting in a night club then.
I could almost hear my mother's sharp voice, Young lady! Are you hearing yourself right now? I'll have to die before that happens.
And there goes my dreams, down the drain, shattered into little shits.
Now back to Steve.
" Bye Steve! I waved at him.
" Yeah, See you tomorrow sweetheart."
I know but you heard that right. Very typical of Steve.

Olive lay on her bed, a novel in hand, her eyes focused on the book.
" Hi Maddie! You're back already. " She says not taking her eyes off the book.
" How was your shift?It wasn't very hectic, was it?"
" Yeah, it was okay. I made a new friend and got a lot of recognition from Mr. Lawkins." I muttered in the process of taking off my shoes.
" Good for you, then." She looked at the clock and I could pay millions of money to see that look on her face again. Shock.
" Oh! Shit! I'm late." She said getting off the bed.
" I'm meeting up with Louis. We have a date today. I won't be back any time soon."
She practically runts. It took a while to process and understand what she said.
Olive was now grinning. When she's with Louis, it's like the whole world revives around them. You don't need to be told she's five metres deep in love.
" Get going then. Have a nice date!" I shout after her.
I grab my sponge bag and go take a bath. I put on my favorite sponge Bob pyjamas and lie on my bed. Oh! what a busy day. But I still loved it.
Jace hasn't been around for a while. I wonder if his wound has healed or he's burst it open again.
My insomnia was getting the best of me but sleep as naughty as it is had its way just like the big bad wolf.
