What are the emotions you would expect someone to feel on their wedding day? Anxiety?
Nervousness? Happiness? Worry? Or perhaps they could be questioning whether they're doing the right thing, whether than focusing on a single emotion.
(Y/n) felt just about every emotion that anyone would feel. The very morning that her friends awoke her to get ready, she curled up into a ball and questioned what was to come. She was worried that her fiance changing his mind and forgetting about her. And after that, she felt happiness. Her emotions were all over the place.
"(Y/n), honey, you don't need to worry about this, okay?" Moomin Mama had been trying her best to get (Y/n) back in place before the sunset. "Snufkin loves you very much, and I'm sure that what you're feeling is going to pass. Just think of something else. Like-" She opened a closet door and pulled out a dress. "How exactly we're going to fix up your hair to go along with this."
(Sorry if you don't like the dress... I'm not good with finding things like that)
"T-That's beautiful." (Y/n) whispered, reaching to touch the dress. Her eyes traveled up and down the dress as her fingers brushed against the fake flowers.
Dresses were never really her cup of tea, but this one felt different.
"What are you planning to do with my hair?"
Moomin Mama laughed. "Nothing too bad, honey. Don't you worry."
(We are switching to Snufkin)
Snufkin had never felt so nervous in his life. It wasn't one of his traits, and it definitely wasn't something that he appreciated. He was someone who appreciated the feeling of excitement and happiness. This sudden feeling was strange.
When he asked Moomin and Moomin Papa why he felt that way, all they did was laugh at him. Was it some sort of inside joke that he didn't get?
"Oh Snufkin, that feeling is normal," Moomin Papa said after calming down. "I felt the same way when I married Moomin Mama. It's just something that needs to be accepted." He paused. "And speaking of accepted... Moomin, go get the suit I bought earlier."
The vagabond sat on a bed in silence. He wasn't feeling too well, and it made him feel almost angry. This was his day, and it couldn't be ruined by some silly emotion.
"What... is that." Snufkin deadpanned, pointing at something that Moomin was carrying.
Moomin Papa snorted. "What does it look like?" He took the suit from Moomin and brushed off some of the furs that were sticking to it. "It's what you're going to wear tonight."
The vagabond's eyes widened. "What? What- what... if I wear that... how am I supposed to wear my hat?"
The Moomin's laughed aloud. "You're not going to wear your hat, silly." Moomin Papa replied. "You're going to have to live without it for tonight."
(Sunset)
Moomin Valley had grown quiet by the time the sun was leaving the sky. Well, as quiet as it could get around this time.
The groom stood under a tall, wooden altar, fiddling with his fingers as he waited for his bride.
He was a tad bit afraid of getting laughed at for how he looked, especially his hair... no matter how many times he tried to tame it, it still stayed the same.
Meanwhile, the bride was standing behind a small part of Moomin House. She was anxious as to what her groom was to think of her. The dress was not her style, as was the way her hair had been fixed...
"Please rise," Moomin Papa's voice boomed. All of the residents of Moomin Valley stood from their seats and turned to face Moomin House.
(If you so wish, the song is to be played now as you walk down the aisle)
(Y/n)'s eyes were glued to the ground as she slowly made her way to the altar. She felt like running away, the anxiety had nipped at her the whole day... and now the time was to come.
Meanwhile, Snufkin's eyes were glued to (Y/n). His mouth had parted in shock at the way she looked. The last thing he expected her to wear was a dress and heels- oh... she was barefoot. The sight of her still caught his breath.
"You may be seated," Moomin Papa told everyone as (Y/n) had arrived. "We are gathered here today to celebrate the engagement of Snufkin, and (Y/n). They will now exchange vows." (Apologies, I've never been to a wedding)
Snufkin took a deep breath and looked at his bride in the eyes. "My dear, beautiful, partner in crime. Two springs ago, you arrived in Moomin Valley... alone and in fear of help from others. Every time any of us tried to talk to you, you would run away and hide behind the waterfall or up a tall tree.
"You and I formally met during a storm. You sought shelter and I offered you that. And instead of sleeping that night, we shared stories of our past and who we were then. After that night, you accepted the idea of friendship and a second family.
"I remember when I was going to the field to speak with you. You were making a flower crown out of beige and dark green anemones.
Curiosity, of course, got the best of me and instead of asking you to be my partner, I asked who the crown was for." Snufkin chuckled lightly. "That was honestly much better than what I was going to do.
"(Y/n) (L/n), I vow to always be by your side no matter what happens to either of us. If you wish to stay here in Moomin Valley, I will stay with you. If you wish to travel, I will travel with you. And if you choose to stay, I will build a permanent home to shape our future. For as long as we both shall live."
(Y/n)'s breath caught in her throat before she took a deep breath. "Snufkin, my loving and curious adventurer. When I was searching for a home, I was told of the lovely fields filled with anemones that grew in Moomin Valley.
"When my mother passed, she asked me to take care of her garden that was filled with infinite colorful anemones. Unfortunately, I couldn't afford to keep the house... so I had to find one elsewhere.
"Going into Moomin Valley, I was immediately greeted by Snorkmaiden and Little my, who tried to get me to stay in Moomin House- mostly because they assumed that was what I arrived for. And instead of accepting, I quite literally ran up the nearest tree." Everyone laughed. "Little My and Snorkmaiden ran off, I thought they would leave me alone... but around ten minutes later, they came back with you.
"Though they brought you there, you just simply watched at their attempt to get me down. Eventually, you told them that I probably just wanted to be left alone... and so I was... for about two days.
"That horrible lightning storm started all of this, and I'm thankful you were outside, though you still haven't told me why. That day... that night... was the game changer for me.
"Snufkin, I vow to love you always and forever, no matter where the road may lead us. For as long as we both shall live."
Moomin Papa nodded and smiled.
"Well, if we're all in agreement, you may kiss the bride."
Snufkin moved his hand to (Y/n)'s right cheek and leaned forward, lightly pressing his lips onto hers. A tear trailed down his cheek while doing so.
