(Max up top)
"Common, one more trip before school! Please!" I whined
"No, I can't afford to get caught, not this close to school, and Max getting kicked out"
"Chris please! I need this, my moms only gone for two more days, your moms will be back in three"
"Max is in charge of us though Roy"
"That's stupid, were sixteen McKlain"
"I know, but my moms think different"
"Common, we can say we're going to a friends house for the night, take my moms car and head out, there's an abandoned arena about thirty minutes from here. What do you say?"
"We don't have any other friends, plus you can't legally drive"
"So? Nor can you. He doesn't know that, please Chris, or I'm going alone"
"Fine, I'm not letting you get caught, or risk you getting hurt"
"Okay dad"
"I'm being serious, grab your bag, I'll throw some stuff in mine, maybe it'll help"
"Yes!" I cheered
Chris shot me a glare and I giggled.
"Cheer up blondie, we're going on an adventure" I patted his head.

This is not going how we planned it to.
"So, where's the house?" Max asked
Yep, I think he caught on, shit. We were in his car, still going on with our lie, we thought about telling him we were going to Maia's but she's working today, god fucking damnit,
"Uh right, right here, you can drop us off we'll be fine" I mumbled and glanced back at Chris, anxious, I was in the front seat and he was clearly biting his nails.
"I'll just make sure you two get inside alright, I don't trust the neighbor hood"
Shit.
"A-alright" I forced a smile
Max parked the car and we hoped out, I nervously glanced at Chris who's eyes were as big as golf balls. We slowly inched up to the door.
"I've got an idea" I whispered
"I don't think you should make those anymore Roy"
"This ones gonna work, I hope" I smiled at him and pulled out my phone, bringing it up to my ear, I knew Max's window was open and he could here.
"Hey, where are you, I thought you were here?" I asked, to nobody
"Oh really, oh my god, I'm so sorry, I send my condolences"
"No no, it's fine, you spend time with your family, yeah they need you, Okay, I'm so sorry, bye"
I pretended to hang up and solemnly shove my phone in my pocket. I turned to Chris, a grim look on my face.
"Her grandma died, the family is going to see her cousins and set up the funeral, she's not going to be back for a bit"
"Oh man, I'll have to call her when I get the chance, I was really hoping to hang out"
