I sit on the sofa in the cafe with Eri in my arms, rocking her back and forth. Today we're trying to get her more used to people as we've had her for about a week now. I had to stop going on patrols since we got her as she's the only one who will let close to her. I guess she just trusts me more since im the one who saved her? It kind of makes sense if you think about it.
I see the heroes come in and I move from the sofa onto the egg chair so that they have a place to sit and put eri on my lap, giving her a colouring book and some pencils. Taking care of Eri is quite hard, She doesn't know a lot of basic language skills as well as simple objects or food. We've just had to give her rice and try to introduce her to other things but sometimes it doesn't go well.
I look up to see Hitoshi standing over me with a bowl of rice and I take it from him as he looks around to see if I could sit anywhere.
"Why don't you go sit over there?" He points to the corner of window seats where nobody is right now apart from the kittens who have taken a liking to Eri. I nod and he takes the rice and colouring things and then I stand Eri up and take her hand, guiding her to where we're going to sit and then proceed to lift her onto the chair and give her the rice. I sit on the floor with the kittens as they've already been fed for this hour by Izuku which is helpful right now.
Hitoshi gives me the colouring book and I just put them on one of the seats and then he comes back with some coffee.
"I know I shouldn't let you have coffee, But you look dead right now." He points out. "Have you even slept recently?"
"N-no.. not really..." I heard him sigh and he hands me the coffee and I slurp it, being careful not to spill it.
I wait until Eri is finished with her rice but when I look over her horn is glowing a lot.
"Uhm Eri... Can you deactivate your quirk honey?" I ask as I kneel in front of her, It looks like she's trying to but it doesn't work very well.
"I-i can't! i-it hurts!" She yells, I start to panic and look at Hitoshi who is looking at the heroes and Eraserhead comes over and starts talking to him.
"Eri, Honey. You need to calm down okay?" I try talking her out of it but it's not working. I look up at Eraserhead. "I-is there any c-chance you c-could uhm..."
"Yeah, It's fine." He says and Erases her quirk. She runs up to me and hugs me tight which I gladly return. I sigh and sit on the window seat and rub her back as she sobs, apologising.
"Eri, It wasn't your fault sweetie..." I hear Izuku say as he sits beside me and holds his arms out to see if Eri will crawl into which she does and hugs him tightly. I stand up and take a moment to myself.
"So, I've never seen her around here before," Eraserhead says as he stands in front of me, My gosh was he always this tall?
"Y-Yeah.. u-uh... We're in the f-foster s-system to uhm- y-y'know... New siblings a lot? aha..." I say, trying to think of an excuse.
"Foster system huh?" He says sceptically.
"Well, We were recently adopted by the people who own this cafe and then they adopted Eri here yesterday," Hitoshi says as he puts his hand on my shoulder and I relax a lot.
"Well, Im glad you kids have a stable home." He says before walking off to where his friends were sitting and I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding.
"You need to be more careful, idiot." He says as he walks off to take someone's order and I look to see Eri is asleep on Izuku.
"I have work to do, Look after her!" He says cheerfully, standing up and lying Eri down on the seat with her head on a pillow and Momo comes over, creating a blanket and putting it over her. I smile and then sit on another seat on my laptop doing the online schooling Momo insisted I done.
The sofa's where the heroes are arent too far away from me so I decided to listen in on what they're talking about.
"So how was patrol last night Shota?" That was definitely midnight.
"Ugh, I had another run-in with that Joker vigilante."
"Did anything happen?"
"No, She just told me there was a dead body at a certain street then ran off. She definitely had a child in her arms though."
"A child?"
"Yep. Those cards are getting on my nerves."
"But they kinda help out, y'know? Less work for us!" Present mic...
"Let's not talk about this." Midnight.
"Have the missing kids went to the park and got the letters yet?" Wait... what?
"No, They decided they weren't going to camp out and just try to make sure they stay alive."
"I just hope they write back soon."
'Huh, So they DID write to us..'
