十三

十三 ; moonlight

Airi sighed.

Staring at the moonlight wasn't any better. However, as she sat in the covers, with the blinds opened and the moonlight shining brightly amongst the millions of stars surrounding it, she felt at least less lonely. She felt as if she was sharing her despair with the moon, although she knew that was completely impossible. The moon had its own problems, it had its own dark side, how was that Airi was able to be so selfish to not notice that?

Airi couldn't sleep.

Even with the presence of the bi coloured haired boy beside her, she just couldn't even doze off. Not even close her eyes even for one second, knowing he was sleeping in the same bed as her. Of course, they had their boundaries. There was a bolster seperating their part of bed. But Airi couldn't just ignore this discomfort feeling in her heart.

You were the one who asked him to come over, right?

Airi shook her head.

Just then, a gentle tap landed on her right shoulder. She flinched slightly in shock, turning her head to look back.

A beautiful pair of heterochromic eyes stared back at her, each orb filled with concern.

"Airi, why aren't you sleeping?", Shoto's raspy voice filled in the deafening silence, his hands rubbing his eyes to clear his vision.

Airi took notice at how his disheveled hair poked out in every angle, exposing the scar on the right part of his forehead. The urge to lean in and caress his cheek was so hard to resist, yet Airi backed away slightly, preventing that action from happening.

Airi shakes her head. She turns back to look at the moon. "I can't."

"Why?"

Airi had the same question lingering in her thoughts. She shrugged, "I don't know. I just...... cant."

Shoto stared at her back, so many curiosities filled in his mind. Why did she ask me to come over? What is it that was bothering her so much until she couldn't even have a wink of sleep?

What hardships were Airi Himari facing?

"Airi,"

Airi responded his call with a soft hum.

"Come and sleep with me."

Airi's eyebrows furrowed. Turning her back slowly, she connected her confused eyes with his empty gaze.

"What?"

"You said you couldn't sleep. So, come closer. I'll help you sleep.", Shoto, without an inch of hesitation, said.

Airi's eyeballs widened into two saucers. Her heartbeat rate fastened, did... did Shoto just.....

"Come on.", Shoto patted the space beside him.

Airi gulped nervously. Nevertheless, she had nothing better to do now. Even staring at the moonlight was not helping at all. Slowly, she crawled under the covers. Shoto made space of her as he lifted the bolster away, accepting her petite body right beside his. As soon as Airi settled down beside him, she looked into his eyes, and Shoto responded her gaze with an unexplainable one.

Staring at each other for a few seconds wasn't helping at all. So, Shoto started his first move. Wrapping his arm around her body, he pulled her closer into his embrace endearingly. Airi cuddled closer, her nostrils slowly filling in with his comforting scent, as she rested her forehead against his chest.
