You laid next to your best friend on the dewy grass in the dead cold night. You both had trouble with insomnia. What better way to spend the hours you cant sleep than with you best friend?
You guys had meet in 4th grade. You were immediately best friends. He had dropped out in 6th grade but you guys stayed in touch. You knew what went on at his house. Which is why you were glad he moved out at 16. (didnt fact check this)
Now you guys were 23. Your birthday 5 days apart. It was always funny to you. You guys had meet on the fifth of May (5) at the fifth period at 2:05. Anyways he was the older one, which he always teased you about.
You were brought out of thoughts by your best friend, Adam.
"Whatchu thinkin about?" He asked, curiously.
"Just... you know life." You responded.
He nodded understanding not to bother you anymore.
You were both laying on your backs, looking up at the stars. You guys never really stargazed but it was a nice night so you guys agreed on it. You were a few inches away but close enough to feel his body warmth. As you both laid silent and still the wind picked up. You shivered a little and Adam looked over at you.
"Cold?" Adam asked causing you to look over at him.
"A little, yeah." You responded truthfully.
"Come here." He demanded and you followed his command.
You scooted closer to him and he wrapped his arm around your cold body and you rested your head on his chest. This wasn't something that you guys did a lot but it was oddly normal. As if nothing in the cruel horrific world could get to you in his embrace. The demons in your mind eating you up slowly had taken a rest. The hairs on the back of your neck taking a break from dancing. The thoughts that normally kept you awake gone on vacation. You were genuinely happy. You wondered if he felt the same.
His grip on you tightened as if he read your mind and that was his answer. You smiled as you inhaled his scent of cologne. He always wore it when around you. Why? Who the fuck knew except for him. His mind was a mystery that you were constantly trying to figure out like a detective and a murder case. Of course, you couldn't. He was the most secretive person you knew but at the same time you felt as if you knew everything about him.
You listened in on his heartbeat. The pounding going through your ear and out the other, making you drowsy. He played with your freshly cut hair. Nothing but a trim but still visibly noticeable. The wind howled as the clouds filled the sky above you. The stars being covered. The dark night becoming even darker and the first drop of rain had fallen landing on his shirt.
"We should go inside." You suggested.
But he lay completely still. Questioning if he'd fallen asleep you shake him gently. He smiled a tired smile and opened his eyes slowly.
"I'm awake, i just don't want to move." He explained with a raspy voice.
By now more rain drops had fallen landing on and around you guys.
"But its raining." You dragged out the 'g', whining.
He laughed and began to start sitting up. Getting the message you got up to. He got up and looked down at you still down on the ground. He offered you his hand which you gladly took. He pulled you up and now the height difference was highly noticeable. He was around 5'10. You were 6 inches shorter than him, landing at 5'4.
The rain now falling harder you walked back into his bland but calming home. You took your shoes off and left them at the door. You were partially wet which made you uncomfortable.
"Do you want to borrow clothes?" Adam asked noticing the disgusted look on your face.
"Yes, please." You answer, not wanting to be in the wet clothes anymore.
He grabbed your hand and lead you to his room. He let go of your hand and opened his closet of blacks, greys, browns, and the occasional white or other bright color clothing. He grabbed a black hoodie and handed it to you. You smiled as a thank you and turned around and walked into the bathroom. You took off your clothes leaving on your undergarments. You slid the hoodie over your head. The hoodie stay just above your knee and the sleeves just below your fingertips.
You grabbed your wet clothes off the ground and left the bathroom. Adam was now not wearing a shirt but, grey sweat pants instead of the black jeans he had on before. He walks over to you and takes your clothes and lays them in his hamper, along with his clothes.
He sat in the bed and his hands went through his messy hair. You sat next to him and he looked over to you. He eyes traveled down your body noticing how big his sweatshirt was on you. He smiled at the thought of taking it off and throwing across the room, for him to find another day. He shook the thought out of his head.
"We can share the bed if you want." He suggested and you just nodded.
He laid down and you laid down next to him. Both of you on your backs, afraid to move.
"Y/N?" Adam called out of no where.
"Yes, Adam?" You answer curiously.
"Can i kiss you?" He asked so calmly and gentle.
You couldn't process the words that had come out of his mouth. You looked over at him and he was already looking at you. He waited patiently for a yes or a no.
"Yes." You answer quick and sharp.
He moved over and his lips landed on yours. Sparks and fireworks erupted as those feelings from outside when he held you returned. He pulled away an looked into your eyes. You cuddled into him and no one dared to utter a single word. The only noise audible is the howling wind. You guys fell asleep in each other's arms as if the insomnia had gone away with a snap of a finger.
