"Jennifer Mathias Scott! You have 15 minutes to get ready for college," yelled a voice from the kitchen.

" 15 minutes?! Why didn't you wake me up sooner?" I asked my roommate Cassie as I got out of my bed, struggling to find my glasses.

Where are those damn glasses?

" Honey, I've been trying to wake you up since the past half hour and all I get in response is five more minutes."  I screamed to myself as I heard her response.

" Cas, I've told you to pour a bucket of water on me if I do not wake up," I told her as I looked for the nearest thing to wear in my closet.

Cassie and I aren't the closest of friends. She's got a bit of an ego but I don't mind her. We help each other out whenever needed so it's cool between us.

She took tuitions for kids during the weekends whereas I worked in a local bakery. We managed to get by.

This shall do, I muttered as I looked at a grey, full-sleeved t-shirt and a pair of black jeans.

I quickly put on my clothes and looked at myself in the mirror.

I saw a short figure with hazel eyes hidden behind her black-framed glasses, wavy hair and ugly belly fat staring at me. She had dark circles and looked like a panda. Except pandas are cute.

"You look awful Jen," I said to the person in the reflection.

Not like anyone's gonna check you out so who cares, I thought to myself.

I quickly rushed downstairs, grabbed my bag and stormed outside as I heard Cas say," What about breakfast?"

" Too late for that Cas," was my response.

I quickly climbed the stairs leading to my class. I somehow made it after tripping and falling at least three times. Climbing 76 stairs ain't easy.

Yes, I counted stairs, a weird habit but I did it every time.

I looked at my watch and it was 10:15 a.m. " Right on time baby," I whispered to myself, feeling proud of my achievement.

I entered the class and saw Alex and Nat waving at me, my two very close friends. I met them during my first year, and we've been inseparable ever since. I sat beside them, flashing a bright smile.

The class commenced, and we were greeted by our History professor. He entered the class, took his seat and cleared his throat as he proceeded to make the worst possible announcement for the day.

" Class, I'm assigning you all with your first group project for this semester."

I groaned and slammed my head on the desk, accidentally hurting myself as I heard the two most terrifying words; Group Project

Nat looked at me with a confused expression and asked," Jen, what's your problem with group projects? They're fun. You get to work in teams and brainstorm creative ideas together."

Calling it a problem would be an understatement.

" Nat, have you seen that meme which says, 'that one person who does all the work in a group project while everyone else just sits and takes credit'? I'm that one person

" Nat, have you seen that meme which says, 'that one person who does all the work in a group project while everyone else just sits and takes credit'? I'm that one person. I do all the work because I value grades while everyone else just sits on their ass,"I explained while being visibly annoyed.
" Also, there are people, strangers. I don't like being around new people," I continued as I ended my explanation.

" Jeez Jen, chill out. You'll be fine. Just pray that you get paired with us," Alex said with a smirk.

" You'll be in groups of five according to your roll numbers and the project is due within three weeks from today." I heard the professor's words echo in my head.

Crap, Alex and Nat were nowhere close to my roll number which meant that I would be in a group with people I had never talked to before.

My utterly terrified expression got Alex and Nat concerned. Nat and Alex told me that I'd be alright and maybe it'd be a good learning experience.

" This way you'll at least talk to someone else besides us," Alex said with a cunning smile on her face.

After class, I bid goodbye to both of them as I proceeded for the group meeting where I'd be meeting my group members

" Time to face your nightmare, Jen," I muttered to myself.

The other group members had planned to meet in the cafeteria. I'm standing at the corner looking for them when I heard a voice call out, " Jennifer, here!" The voice belonged to Kaitlyn, the class topper.

She had brown eyes, a petite figure and short dark hair with red highlights at the end of her hair. She was popular in college because she actively took part in extracurriculars and also scored the highest marks in class.

I was glad to have her on my team because it meant that for once I wouldn't have to do all the work alone.

I was surprised to learn that she knew my name since I barely spoke to anyone in my class.

I made my way to the table occupied with 4 others. I seated myself and scanned the area when my eyes landed on him.
