I met Alex and Nat on the way out of the library." Hey, how'd the group meeting go?" Alex asked me with a twinkle of curiosity in her eyes.
" It was okay, I guess and I'm going to Zephyr's place after college," I answered with an awkward smile.
" Wait what? That escalated from a -1 to a 10 real quick Jen," Nat said as she looked at me with a smirk.
" You're going to a guy's place whom you just met..and to do what exactly?" Alex interrogated me.
" Oh well, we're gonna do research and watch Supernatural," I said with a hint of excitement.
" One day you're gonna end up dead because of your crazy obsession with Supernatural. Jen, he's literally a stranger, how can you just agree to go to his place? What happened to the constantly paranoid girl that we're used to?" Nat said as her mom-genes started to grow stronger.
" I'll be fine. He seems harmless," I assured them with a smile.
" Okay but you'll text us as soon as you reach and if there's any trouble, you call us immediately. Understood?" Nat said with genuine worry and concern.
" Okay mom, understood."
How did I end up with these two amazing human beings?
After college, I eagerly waited for Zephyr outside the gate. I dropped a text for Cassie telling her that I'll be a little late as I would be going to a friend's house for research.
Friend? Is he a friend yet? Does he consider me a friend?
While I waited for him, I plugged in my earphones to listen to my favourite tunes. ' Bad Liar ' by Imagine Dragons started playing. I was so engrossed in the music that I didn't even realise Zephyr was standing right in front of me. He looked at me, pulled out one earphone and put it in his ear.
" Hey! What do you think you're doing?" I asked with an annoyed expression.
" I've been trying to get your attention for a while now but you couldn't hear me. What is it that you're listening to anyway?"
" Imagine Dragons."
" It's good", he said while swinging his head slightly along to the beats of the music.
" You like it?" I asked
" I do," he said
There's nothing better than someone liking your taste in music.
His place wasn't too far from college so we decided to walk. This time there was no silence between us. He initiated the conversation with a question, " What are your interests, Jennifer?"
Was he attempting to small talk?
" Well...you already know I like Supernatural. I love to read and oh I love mythology as well. Greek mythology in particular," I responded with my head looking at the ground.
" What about you?" I asked, trying my best at small talk.
" I love music, football, reading, the usual stuff," he responded while looking directly into my eyes.
Oh my god, I was not used to eye contact. Why was my heart racing when he looked at me with those gorgeous eyes? Just look at the ground Jen, just keep your eyes there.
" I know nothing about sports," I said
" Yes, because all you know about is nerdy stuff," he let out a chuckle.
" I'm a proud nerd," I said.
" Do you know what your name means?" I asked him.
" Nope. I never gave much thought to it."
" Zephyr originated from the Greek name Zephyrus. Zephyrus is the Greek god of the west wind. It's the gentlest of the winds."
" That's cool. Was he good looking like I've heard Greek gods to be?" Zephyr smirked and raised his eyebrows.
Yes, he was. But I was not telling him that.
" I'll take your silence for a yes," he said with a grin.
" We're here," Zephyr stepped in front of me and opened the door of his apartment.
" Welcome to my humble abode Miss Jennifer." He gestured for me to come in while he held the door like a gentleman.
I let out a small chuckle as I watched him being a literal gentleman.
He had a nice house. Cozy, warm and gave me an instant homely aura.
" You have a nice house," I told him as I looked at the posters hung on the white painted wall. One poster caught my eye. It had a quote written on it that said ' You're beautiful just the way you are.' I let out a sigh as I read that quote.
" Thank you." His response broke my chain of thoughts.
" Make yourself at home Jennifer."
" You live alone here?" I asked while making my way towards the couch.
" No, me and my best friend Jamie share this apartment."
I sat on the couch and took out the books that I had borrowed from the library. Zephyr came and sat beside me.
He was a little too close.
I moved a little away to maintain distance.
" I thought we were gonna watch Supernatural. What's up with the books?"
" Well... we're gonna finish up our research first and then we can reward ourselves with Supernatural. What do you think?" I asked him
" Fair enough." He nodded in agreement.
I was weirdly comfortable around this guy. For some reason, it seemed like we had a lot in common.
After 45 minutes of hardcore research, I stretched my hands. " I'm tired of reading these books, I guess that's enough studying for today."
Zephyr looked up to me and said, " Ready for Supernatural ?"
" Ever ready," I squealed in excitement.
An hour was spent discussing Supernatural and fan theories. All of Zephyr's theories were so interesting and made so much sense.
" Dean and Lisa looked so cute together," I said.
" Do you have anyone that you look cute with?" Zephyr turned his gaze towards me and asked.
" What do you mean?"
" Do you have a special someone?" He clarified.
" Oh. No, I don't," I answered.
" Did you ever have one?"
I kept quiet. I didn't feel like talking about it because it may or may not end up with me crying and no way could I let this man see me cry.
Seeing my expressions fade, he said, " We don't have to talk about it."
I smiled at him, uttering a thank you in my head.

Thanks for reading. The next chapter is a monologue that talks about Jennifer's past. So yep. That's all.
