Chapter Twenty-six:

X

Schemes

"Willard, brother." Phthalo entered his room with a big smile on his face. "I am getting married." He beamed so brightly.

"And?" I asked directly. Did he just barge into my room to tell me about this news?

"You're going to be an uncle." He smiled again. But this time, his words confused me.

"It's just wedding, how can I---" Then I realized and my mood changes.

"I'm going to be a father!" His brother jumps in joy. "Aren't you happy, my dear brother?"

"I am," I said but I didn't feel an ounce of happiness inside.

"Deest, the prophecy had been made. You got to see this." I heard the Queen said as I was about to go to that hallway. But I stopped in my tracks.

What prophecy? How come we didn't know what those are?

I followed them into the room in the basement. Behind the big and heavy room they went, but I can't go in there yet.

I hid in the dark corner and waited until they went out of that chamber. Then I heard,

"We should make him the king then," one of the ministers said. I only saw the two of them went in, but five more people are with them now. The Queen, King, their private knight, his adviser, and three ministers.

"But Willard is the oldest." The king argued.

"He has no talent, we all knew that." The Queen spat. The King lowers his head and sighs. "Then he shall be the next king then. For his child will be the bearer of peace in our land."

They disappeared from the hallway and I was left there, hiding with pain and growing rage.

I entered the room because of curiosity. As I opened the room, my eyes fixated to the thick book in the center of the room. A light overhead is beaming towards it though he didn't see any opening for the light to come in.

The old and thick book lay flat on a circular column in the middle of the chamber, but he saw other books in other columns as well. The only difference is, this particular book is where the light is directed.

He saw something written on the column but he can't read it. Instead, he looked at the writing on the book.

It has the same weird writing but it somewhat moves. The figures move.

It changes to a language he can read. It stated there,

Moor moons will align
A great leader in line
Moonlight will shine
Brighter than the sunshine

Bearer of balance
Instrument of chance
Eclipse not once
Ascend with brilliance

I read those lines again and again. I can't make sense out of it but I knew that it is pertaining to my brother's child.

A great leader in line, psh.

"Leave the king in his chariot, I will give you two bags of gold." I handed the bags of gold to the knight after he nodded. Then I left stealthily.
