"Face paint"

"What are you doing?" You asked looking up from your bento box, "You look so happy while eating, it's cute!" He says then showing a picture of you eating. "Delete that! I look so bad." You said trying to grab his phone, he quickly pulled back and snickered.

"It's cute, I'll keep it." He says putting his phone away, you scoffed and continued eating.

(After school)

"Y/n! Wait up!"

You turned to see Oikawa running towards you, "What is it?" You asked.

"It's my nephew's birthday this weekend, my mom asked for us to come and do face paints for them." He explains, "Do I have too..?" You groaned.

"You think I can paint all of the kids' faces by myself?" You rolled your eyes, "Fine. Only for the kids though." He chuckles and ruffles your hair. "Thank you! Now since we're here, let me walk you home!" He said walking to your side, you sighed and began walking.

(Oikawa's Nephew's birthday)

"We're here!" Oikawa said opening the door, the kids rushed over and gave him a big hug.

"Who's that?" A kid asks pointing to you, "That's my girlfriend, introduced yourself." Oikawa says bending down to the kid's level.

"I'm Takeru! Today is my birthday!" You chuckled and bent down to his level, "Nice to meet you, I'm Y/n. Happy birthday!" You said handing him the gift bag. "Thank you!" Takeru says going to place it on the table.

"Up!"

You turned to see a little girl making grabby hands. "Y/n...you don't wanna make her sad do you?" Oikawa teases, you glared at him then went back to the little girl. "Sure thing love." You carried the girl in your arms while walking around.

"Guys! My mom said we can do face paint now!" Takeru says running outside to the table with paint and paint brushes.

"Let's see who's the better artist." Oikawa says smirking, "Oh it's on." You said putting on a apron and sitting down at the table as the kids formed a line.

"I wanna a butterfly!" The girl says pointing to her left cheek, you nodded and began painting a butterfly on her face.

(After awhile)

"Well, that's all of them." You said taking off the apron, "They look happy, thanks you two." Oikawa's mom says patting your backs.

"No problem, I had fun helping out." She smiles and walks back to the adult table.

"Let's take a photo!" He says pointing to the golden backdrop, "Ehh..I don't feel like it.." You mumbled. "Not the answer I was looking for!" He says pulling you along.

"Say cheese!"

You help up a peace sign and smiled.

The camera clicked and you both went to look at the picture. "We look good." He chuckles, "You can keep it, for memories I guess." You shrugged. "I'm only keeping it cause I look good." He teased, you lightly punched his shoulder and went over to where the kids were playing.

(Oikawa's POV)

I went over to my mom helping her with the dishes. "You know, Y/n is a great girl." My mom chuckles, "I guess." I shrugged. She stopped and turned to me. "I guess? What do you mean 'I guess'? She's good with the kids, polite and is so sweet." My mom scoffed.

She doesn't know that we aren't actually dating...I sighed. "One day, she's gonna leave and you'll realize how much you'll miss her." She said then walking away.

My feelings were all over the place. Our main goal was to have Maria running back to me. So why did I lean in for a kiss with Y/n? I can't lead Y/n on when I don't want a relationship with her.

I look back and saw her playing with the kids, she notices and gave me a soft smile before turning back. I felt my heart flutter. Finally I asked myself the question,

Do I like Y/n..?
