JJ Maybank- Let the river run

Part 3

As they arrived at Kiara's family restaurant 'The Wreck' River greeted her dad "Hi Mr Carrera" she said with a friendly smile "Hi kid, how are you going?" Mr Carrera responded nicely "I've been better, but I'm alright" River said sincerely. They walked off to Kie and Pope, JJ looked at River and said "suck up" in a snarky voice, "I was just being polite!" River protested laughing with him.

Pope and Kie agreed to come to the get-together at the boneyard. As the group of Pogues arrived, more and more people continued to fill the site. Kiara and Pope were sitting together talking to some tourists, while JJ and River were together talking about how they were going to try to get the gold from Tannyhill.

The gold was all River could think about, well that and how much she missed her brother dearly. Suddenly some familiar Kooks caught River's eye, Rafe, Topper and Kelce. Rafe noticed River and started to walk over staring at her directly. Kiara and Pope noticed the situation unfolding and rushed over to JJ and River's side as an act of defence. "What are you doing here Rafe?" River groaned "Oh nothing just came to have a good time with the boys" Rafe chimed with an arrogant look on his face. "Well stay away from us" Kie warned, "Remember last time we were here River?, you know, with John B. I would ask how he is but, oh wait that's right he's gone" Rafe teased. "Now that's too far dude" Pope stated with a disgusted look on his face. "You better watch your mouth, you're on our side of the island now" JJ threatened as he tensed every muscle in his body ready to pounce at any moment. Suddenly, Rafe threw a punch at JJ, narrowly missing him because Topper and Kelce pulled him away mid flight.  The rest of the night the Pogues partied with their friends, trying to move on from the argument that had occoured.

As the Pogues were getting ready to leave, a cop car pulled up and Shoupe stepped out. "Oh god! what do they want now?" Pope huffed "ahh River, just the person I'm looking for" Shoupe said, a little too enthusiastically. "Wait, what's going on?" JJ said defensively. The cop pulled out a pair of cuffs and took Rivers arm, "River Routledge, you are under arrest for shoplifting, anything you say or do, can and will be held against you in the court of law" Shoupe stated. Whilst he handcuffed her she closed her eyes and stayed silent, giving one glance only to JJ as she got in the cop car. JJ stared back at her with tears in his eyes. She mouthed to the fellow Pogue "I'll be fine" as the car drove off to the police station.
