A/N:
Hiii this is my first story I've ever published so that's exciting and also terrifying lmao

I don't wanna say too much here, other than that:

Yes, Tyler is pudgy/chubby in this au, and there's a reason I made it like that but it won't be explained until later.
I know this is already soon to know but, I've already planned a sequel. I've had this storyline made up since literally November 2019 so, yeah lmao it's all already planned.
But, there WILL be a handful of unanswered questions and random unexplained details, but I can guarantee that they will all be answered in the second story.

Anyways, hopefully you like this :))

June 24th, 2015.

Joshua Dun had spent the morning as he would with any other average day, as his schedule was typically repetitive now with everything going on in his life.

Every day, he would head to the local hospital in his hometown of Columbus, Ohio, to pay a visit to his mother, who had been inpatient there for a few months now.

She had been diagnosed with a chronic illness years before this, but it had slowly been worsening despite the medication and treatment she'd been given, and it eventually got to the point where she was emitted in the hospital full time for extensive care.

Although, with all of the money for her stay and for the treatment, the price did eventually add up, and before they knew it, almost everyone in the family started to pitch in some cash to help her out.

Because of the constant payments, Josh was starting to get pretty tight on money. He had a decent-paying job as a sales associate for a of couple years, while his boss knew about his family situation and was fairly lenient and gave exceptions for him to leave early or come in later, once his visits to his mother became more frequent, he was let go from the job. Along with that, he wasn't able to find another good job that would pay well and would be lenient towards his situation quick enough, and he eventually had to move out of his house and settle for an apartment. One slight advantage he got from that was being able to sell the furniture he couldn't keep and made some extra cash off of that, although it still wasn't enough.

Ever since he moved about a year ago, he had been somewhat alright, but was still struggling with money and with finding a job. He would have enough to pay rent and other essential bills, but it would leave him struggling with gas money and for groceries sometimes too. He knew he needed to just suck it up and accept whatever he could get at this point despite if they give exceptions or not, but he just couldn't bring himself to take any of them. He wasn't gonna let some stupid temporary job take away possibly some of the last bit of time he could have with his mother.

Despite having that in mind though, the 27 year old was still currently on the hunt for a job. Despite being rejected by many for either not being interested, never calling back, or for his mother's ordeal getting in the way to lead to his rejection, he still kept trying almost every day.

Including today.

Josh had gotten done with another job interview, which ultimately failed because the people there wanted someone more experienced.

As usual, the decline disappointed and frustrated him, and he left there as soon as he could and began walking along the sidewalk so he could at least go by the hospital to see his mom before he heads home. He would have driven, but again, he was trying to save more money on gas, and he figured he could use some exercise anyway so he didn't mind it too much.
