(A/N: since when do I update this thing?)
Silence stood still for a moment; such a fragile... excruciatingly long moment. They stared at one another and Shinso felt his mouth go dry; he couldn't figure out what Midoriya's face read. Was he upset? Was he angry? ...about to leap out of his bed and sucker punch him?
"Uh.." Midoriya drawled on for a moment, a confused look crossing his face as the figure in front of him finally registered in his head. A wave of relief nearly crossed over Shinso, but he quickly reminded himself that he wasnt out of the woods just yet. The conversation had barely begun, "S-Sure? I... Didn't expect for you to come back."
Shinso bit down on his bottom lip as he looked at Midoriya... long and hard. The bandages that once covered his eye had disappeared, replacing that being stitches and irritated skin. He looked paler... a little weaker than before. Had he lost muscle? Surely he did, especially after being stuck in the hospital for...
He didnt know; he didnt know a lot of things anymore, if he was going to be honest, "I didn't think I would either."
More silence. Crippling silence almost; was he afraid? A little, yes. He didnt know what to say; he just came here on a whim. Where should he even begin? There was no easy conversation to be made here, only hard and harder options, "...What kinda movies do ya like?"
Midoriya's eyes shifted from shock, to confusion, to another strange emotion. His lips quivered and Hitoshi felt his face slowly start to turn red. Did he seriously just ask that?! Movies?! Seriously?! He closed his eyes, waiting for some kind of judging stare down or a quip that would ruin the confidence he had used to get here and make everything so much more awkward. He waited for some sort of yell, asking why he was so stupid for asking such a stupid question after seeing his friend for the first time after so long.
He waited...
And waited...And waited...
And waited....
Laughter.
Shinso's eyes snapped open as pure, child-like laughter filled the room. Midoriya held his hand to his chest, mouth hanging wide open and eye squeezed shut. His shoulders shook up and down as Hitoshi stood there in confusion. Was this some sort of judgement? He didn't know and maybe he didn't even want to know. But... "I-Im so sorry! I just— I didn't expect that! I— pffffft- bwahahaha!"
Shinso felt his heart get a little lighter, yet his shoulders still remained tense as he stood on guard, "I... did I make you mad?"
"Wha-ha-hat? Oh my goodness, hell no! I'm just— God I haven't heard something that absurd since the last time I attended class," Midoriya sighed, ending off that rabid-lile laughter that had startled Shinso, "Anyways, my favorite movie is Ponyo. Sorry for laughing so hard. Actually, why do you ask that?"
"I-Its alright, I missed hearing you laugh," Shinso smiled a tiny bit, feeling a little more comfortable in the room than previously, "I... was going to say something else, but I didn't know what to say so I just... that."
"I didn't think you liked my laugh; ill be sure to keep that in mind," Midoriya smiled back with that same old bright smile Shinso had only known for a few days, but felt like he had known since he was first walking. Why did he...? There was no reason to feel like that; it was just Midoriya smiling like usual. So why did it make him feel strange? Well, thats a question best saved for later; he's had a lot of strange feelings as of late and maybe he should finish on tackling the issue first, but Midoriya cut him off before he could utter a word, "I kind of expected that. You seem to trip up on your words whenever you're nervous; I'm pretty sure of it."
