From a Studio to a House

This friend of mine from the studio had really started to grow on me. We decided to start going out together. They had recently purchased a house not far from downtown. It wasn't long after I was asked if I would like to move in. It didn't take me long to say yes.
I was pretty thrifty, but I also was about to become much more money conscience. This house did not have air conditioning, so what was their idea?.... get a whole house fan. About 25 yrs. later, we still only have a whole house fan and love it. For those who aren't familiar with it. It is installed in your ceiling, about 3'X3'  You open some windows in your house in the evening (using adjustable blockers to keep someone from opening them all the way), and it sucks the cool air in and blows out the hot. It cost us about $1 dollar a night to cool the house down. A typical air conditioner cost about $5 dollars a night. Multiply the cost savings on a nightly, weekly, monthly and yearly.... over 25 yrs. and you will see a huge difference.
For the winter, we usually heat with a wood stove. We will use the  wall heater occasionally.

These next chapters deal with how we go about buying some basic stuff, that people will purchase.
