One word should stand out when you are looking for a vehicle. "Research."
We always use Consumer Reports (Auto buying guide) because it's easy to read and compare. Most importantly, because they give you an honest review covering reliability, safety, comfort and much more. Unlike Road and Track, Motortrend and Car and Driver magazines, Consumer Reports does not rely on the big auto makers for revenue.
We have bought Toyota's for many years. We always buy and not lease. We buy their "middle of the road" vehicles I guess you can say. They are nice, but usually not top of the line. We keep them for about 8 yrs. We have had to replace two different batteries over the years and that is it.
We don't go for the extended warranties, we did our research and they are well built. I strongly recommend you look thru CR auto buying issue. They usually come out towards the end of the year.
