No, I'm not going to admit it. "Jc, what are you talking about?"

He looks around before stepping even closer to me. "Grace, I know I saw you looking at us from the balcony."

"Jc, we all drank too much. I think you were just imagining it." I smell alcohol between us, but I can't tell who it's coming from. I think it's the both of us.

He sighs. "Grace, I may have drank too much, but this is usual for me. I've learned to control it and I know when to come to my senses when I need to. I was fully aware when I looked at you looking at us. I'm not stupid."  His voice is so stern now. It scares me.

I didn't expect him to say that. This just ruins my plan. I don't know what to say. He is so close to me that I think he smell my fear through the beer. I'm in too deep now. Denying is not an option anymore. So then I say, "Jc, honestly, I don't know what I saw."

Then for some reason he smiles. "I knew it."

"Jc, for all I know, this could be a dream."

"But it's not."

"Then explain to me what I saw because my own thoughts are scaring the shit out of me."

"Why don't we go get waffles first and then I can explain everything to you there."

Waffles? Is that really what he's thinking about right now? I just saw him grow wings a few minutes ago and he wants waffles? "What's up with you guys and waffles? I'm kind of freaking out inside. I don't think this is the time for waffles."

He chuckles. "Oh come on. All this beer is making me starve. And I'm not going to tell you here out in the middle of the street. Please?" he extends that last word.

I don't know how he managed take sense of that but now that he mentions it, I'm hungry too. "Okay."

After a few minutes of even more silent walking, we are back at the Waffle House. Jc holds the door open for me and I walk in first. Now at this time, almost five in the morning now, this place is almost empty. There's just one man in the very corner who looks homeless.

Jc walks in front of me and we go to order. "Do you want the same as earlier?" he asks me before talking to the register lady.

I just nod. Now I'm really craving waffles. But I really don't know how I can eat considering the situation I'm in.

Then Jc asks for two orders of waffles and pays for the both of us. Then I follow Jc to a high raised table for two by a window. We each take a seat.

Then I stare at him. He needs to tell me now. He need so stop stalling. I look at him with a concerned expression, but he just smiles at me.

"What? " he questions.

" I want to know," I demand.

"Gees. We just sat down. Let me relax for a bit. "

" Jc! "

" Okay okay. " Then the smirk on his face fades away. He suddenly goes from playful to serious."I'll tell you. I'll tell you everything. But you have to know something first. There are things not everyone knows about. You probably won't believe it at first. But you have to trust me. And, I trust you to keep this between our group. You can't just leave and go off telling other people. Understand? "

Okay, his warning is scaring me more than what he's about to tell me. I can tell this is really serious. I guess this is where the fun and games stop. "Okay, yeah. I understand."

"Good." Then Jc re-positions himself on his chair and sits up. He begins to explain in a low and conservative voice, "Okay, I don't know where to start... Let's see." Then he makes eye contact with me and I know neither of us plan on breaking it anytime soon. "It's the six of us, you know that already. Sam, Kian, Connor, Ricky, Trevor, and I. We aren't who we seem to be. We call ourselves as we look to be. We are all dragons."
