Fallon and I were meeting with the VanKirk lawyers to talk about getting Heidi to stay in Atlanta.

"Who cares if the Van Kirk lawyers are the ones that did the paperwork to put Connor for adoption 10 years ago or not very good. He was never actually adopted." Fallon said to me.

"Look I want to keep in my life and this just seems like the best way." I said.

"Our lawyers are also great at divorce. For down the road." Mom said

"Aww the mother-of-the-bride feel free to skip the wedding Laura. I'm sure Jordan can find someone just as cold and unfeeling to walk her down the aisle." Fallon said.

"Oh, I will be there if only to make sure something about this event is classy." Mom said.

"Oh please, you wouldn't know classy if it crawled-" I cut her off.

"Enough both of you. You're both gonna be there so get used to it okay?" I asked. "And hopefully Connor will be there too." Fallon put her hand on my thigh.

"Jordan, I am trying to understand this sudden fervour for parenthood. You made it perfectly clear that you would like to single handedly end the VanKirk gene pool." Mom said.

"Can you blame me? You have three kids and each of us are messed up I didn't wanna pass that on to some innocent kid. But Connor already exists Mom." I said. "And look, I'm not asking for full custody just for Connor to stay local so I have a chance to get to know him more." I said as a guy walked in.

"Are you the lawyer?" Fallon asked.

"Yes. Brandon and as the lawyer I have to tell you that that's not likely although your name is on the birth certificate you signed away your parental rights before Connor was even born." Brandon said.

"Meaning?" Fallon asked.

"Meaning if you want to pursue this in court it will be an uphill battle and it could get contentious." Brandon said.

"No. I'm not dragging Connor through some ugly fight in court." I said.

"Good." Mom said.

"We'll just have to find another way to convince Heidi to stay." I said. We walked into the hotel room.

"Connor is in the shower but should be out soon so you can say goodbye." Heidi said. Fallon was telling me to talk to her. "I have no idea where we'll put all of these toys you bought him but they will certainly make the flight home easier."

"Heidi, what happened to your plan to stay in Atlanta?" Fallon asked.

"Oh that was never a real plan. That was just something I said to see you felt about having a kid around." Heidi said.

"Well it turns out that we feel pretty strongly about it. Would you consider staying?" I asked.

"Here? Permanent?" Heidi asked.

"I'll pay to relocate you guys and help cover Connor's expenses. I just wanna have an opportunity to hang out with my son. Not from across the country." I said.

"That's really generous but we have a life back in California and despite my moment of temporary insanity I am really excited to get back to it." Heidi said.

"Speaking of your moment of insanity, uh do you wanna tell us what happened? Where you went? Anything at all?" Fallon asked.

"Uh. I stayed with a friend for a few days. But I realised almost as soon as I left that it was a mistake." Heidi said.

"Aww. And that is so admirable but what if your moment of insanity turns into a full time job." Fallon asked putting her arm around shoulders while I put my arm around her waist.
