Emir was at work, where he was 70% of the time. He hated going home. What he wanted wasn't there. He was alone; at home AND at work. The company had become huge in the three years, too big for him to handle alone. That's why he was looking for a new business partner. He'd met several people, but none of them had what he was looking for.
It was late in the day. Emir was on his computer, waiting for another disappointment. Err, another potential partner. He was so busy he didn't pay attention when someone walked into his office.
"Emir sir?"
Emir looked up to see a tall man standing in front of his desk. He looked to the door, then back to the man.
"Sorry for coming in unannounced. I'm Serçan, your 7o'clock."
Emir boredly offered Serçan the seat across him. He didn't have any hope. In the beginning, Emir was not focused on the conversation, but the more Serçan talked, the more he was reminded of... her. Emir finally closed the computer and lead the man to a less formal sitting so they could talk frankly.
"So, what do you think?" Serçan asked patiently.
"I think you're hired," Emir said as he calmly leaned back.
"You're kidding!"
Emir smiled. "I'm not. Welcome to the company," Emir said with his hand out as he stood up.
Serçan took it, but pulled Emir into a hug.
"Thank you so much!" He pulled away, still holding his hand. "We'll do great things together."
Emir awkwardly pulled away.
"Let's start now," Serçan said. "Let me take you out for a treat.
"Really, that's not..."
"What? Do you have to be home early?"
Emir chuckled. "It's not that."
"Good, then we'll go. I'll pull my car up. See you downstairs."
Emir smiled as Serçan left. He was wrapping up when his phone beeped. A message. He read it, then ignored it, now fully planning on going with Serçan. He went downstairs and got in the car.
They came to a place Emir had never been to. It wasn't exactly a "rich person" place."You can leave your coat in the car," Serçan said as he was already taking off his own.
"It's fine, I'll keep mine on."
"Suit yourself." Serçan lead Emir to the plaza. There was live music playing, and people were dancing and enjoying the nightlife.
"Are you allergic to anything?"
"What?" Emir wasn't expecting that question.
"Allergies?" Serçan asked again.
"Just peanuts."
"Good. Because we're having oysters!"
Emir had to walk fast to stay with Serçan. He stopped at a stall selling oysters.
"I'm sure you've had oysters before, but not like this!" Serçan said to Emir before he talked to the seller and got them both some.
"Bottomless basket. On me!" And he slurped back his first shell.
Emir laughed and followed. They were getting more when a girl came up at the stall. She started chugging up her shells like no tomorrow.
"Slow down, girl! You'll end the night with stomach pain!" The girl laughed and slurped another one.
"You might, Mr Rich Guy. But this is every other night for me."
Emir smiled at her reply, before he had to check his phone again.
"Oh you don't think I can hold down my fish? Wanna bet?" Serçan teased."As long as I don't have to pay your medical bill, Mr."
"Chef! Serve us up. I will pay. Let's see which one of us is worth their word. Will you judge, Emir?"
Emir frowned. "Actually, I think I have to leave you here. Gotta be home. Wife's orders."
"Oh, okay. Don't want you to get in trouble. See you Monday, partner!" Emir said goodbye and left. Serçan turned to the girl again.
"Ready? Bottoms up!"
