Clarence just drove silently while Abie felt somewhat awkward at the back row.

He gazed at her through the rear view mirror. "Are you okay, Ms. Abie? You seemed to be troubled."

"Uhmm..." she said, obviously a little embarrassed, as she gripped her dress on her lap. "About last time... I'm sorry!" She then lowered her head.

"Hm? 'Sorry' about what?"

"I took out all my anger at you. Though you were just trying to help. I'm really sorry."

"Ahh. That time. I actually wanted to apologize to you as well, because I didn't realize how you were feeling back then. I'm sorry," he said, also bowing shortly.

"No, no. You don't have to apologize at all. But, really, thank you for coming that time. I wanted to tell you that. That's why I went to look for you at the convenience store the next day after that, but you were not working there anymore."

"What are you thanking me for?"

She shook her head. "Just thank you." She then averted her gaze to the side. Clarence saw that she was smiling but her eyes were getting watery again.

"If nobody had talked to me that time, I could have jumped from the hotel. Hahaha. I could have caused trouble and scandal to our family." She thought to herself. "I almost forgot that there are people who cares for me like Sebastian and Sophie. That's why, thank you for reaching out to me back then."

"We're here, ma'am," he said after he slowly put the car to stop. They were in front of a tall shopping mall.

Abie looked reluctant to get down but he already opened the door for her. She still didn't get out. Sensing she was actually afraid to go but still came here, he lent out a hand at her.

"It's okay. I'll be just waiting here," he said with that gentle smile of his.

She looked at his hand. The same gesture caused her to remember her long-time boyfriend who used to also take her hand. But she shook that thought away. She took his hand and stepped out of the car.

"Thank you. I'll be back."

Abie went inside the mall and to a fancy restaurant. Her boyfriend and fiancé hurriedly embraced her as soon as she stepped inside the restaurant.

"Love, I'm so worried about you. You were not answering my calls. I'm so happy you finally agreed to see me now."

Abie, with a disgusted and upset face, did not embrace him back but just let him be.

They took their usual table, inside a private room especially reserved for special occasions or meetings. The servers immediately placed their usual meals then left and closed the door. She ate normally but he could feel she was mad because she was not looking at him at all.

"What's wrong, love?" he said worriedly as he put his hand over her left hand and gently caressed it. She still didn't face him nor said anything.

Realizing she was really in a different kind of bad mood, he slipped his fingers over hers and kissed it. "I love you, Abie."

Hearing those words made her snapped. She looked at him with burrowed and angry eyes. "You are holding my hand yet you did not realize." She finally spoke up but still held back her full emotion.

He looked at her hand and his eyes grew big when he finally realized it. "Where's your engagement ring?"

She pulled her hand away. She placed the ring on the table with a loud sound.
