The news that Mildred had been chosen to represent the school went viral. Felicity had been interviewing Mildred every day ( which simply disturbed Mildred's busy moments ), Maud and Enid have been exclaiming with future possibilities if Mildred wins the competition.

' You'll be like a royal queen! Or a princess! ' Enid joked.

' No not like that! She'll just be famous for being the very first young witch to work at the Magic Council, it'll be big time, Millie. BIG TIME! ' Maud had said.

While other students have been talking about it every time every day. Due to all this, Ethel Hallow was jealous and mad. Now she knew she would never get her mother to notice her talents.

As Ethel paced up and down her room, Felicity sat on her bed, busy posting news of the competition.

' There's got to be a way to make me the one to represent the school! ' Ethel thought out loud. If you were there, you could hear the determination and frustration in her voice. Ethel continued pacing up and down for another which seemed like 10 to 20 minutes before she finally had a thought.

' That's it! Maud Spellbody and Enid Nightshade are Mildred Hubble's best friends! I just have to get her to think deeply into the so- called... " friendship "... of theirs and then she will be reluctant to leave. Then, maybe she will even get me to take her place! '

Felicity looked up.

' Miss Cackled chose her. Mildred didn't choose herself, Miss Cackle did. So I don't think it's going to be a good idea if you just barge in between the meantime while the competition is coming up. '

' The only witch that is worried about such things, ' Ethel scoffed as she opened the door, ' is the one with not enough space for thoughts. '

And she was gone. Felicity sighed.

' Alright, class dismissed! Back inside everyone! Chop chop! ' Miss Drill ordered as the class rushed back into the castle. Mildred, Maud and Enid were just about to go in when Miss Drill called for them. They turned.

' Uh, not you two, I just want Mildred to stay, you two run along now. ' Miss Drill said as Enid and Maud took one quick look at Mildred and walked off.

' Well, Mildred, ' Miss Drill said, ' Miss Cackled ordered me to help you train. '

' Oh, no. I'm okay. Y- you're acceptance to train me is very generous, Miss Drill but... I've already been doing okay by myself so far. '

' Hmph. Well then... ' Miss Drill snorted, not seeming to believe Mildred had improved only after a week's training despite all the lessons she had. ' ... let's see what you've been working on, alright? Go get your broom. '

Mildred sighed anxiously, she knew, obviously, that she hadn't been doing so well ( part of the reason was because the whole competition was relying on Familiars)...

 ( FLASHBACK )

' Come on, Tabby! ' Mildred ended her urging with a whistle as she tried to get her pet cat, Tabby ( Tabby is not a black cat as the school ran out on Mildred's first day at Cackle's, so they got her a tabby, which Mildred accidentally named him Tabby ), to get through a hovering ring. The first task was to get a witch's Familiar to show off its talents. Tabby, however, wasn't such a talented cat, but he was talented in sitting down doing nothing, watching Mildred call him continuously.

' Come on, Tabby! Come on!... ' Mildred sighed. ' Tabby, we really need to win this! Come on now! You'll get extra milk cream if you come to me! '

Tabby stood up and did as told, just that he walked around the rings towards her instead. Mildred sighed as Tabby meowed impatiently, sitting down by her feet, playing with her untied shoelaces as he waited for his treat.

The next task was to get a Familiar to do as its witch tells it to do. Mildred looked down at Tabby, who was busy licking its grey, black- striped, and white coat.

' Alright, Tabby... uhh, go and get my broom over there! ' Mildred pointed at her broom lying on its own at the entrance of the woods. Unfortunately, Tabby was too busy licking itself clean. Mildred urged impatiently, ' Come on, Tabby! Come on, now! You really, really, really, REALLY have to do as told! '

Tabby stayed.

' Tabby! ' Mildred said briskly.

Tabby stayed.

Mildred sighed as she lifted Tabby to his feet. Tabby meowed stubbornly, as it stood to his feet. He stood there and did nothing.

' You're not going to— ' but Mildred words were cut off when she accidentally waved her hand and the broom came flying towards her, hitting her hard in the head.

Mildred groaned and sighed impatiently—

( FLASHBACK ENDS )

' Come on, what are you standing there for?! ' Miss Drill sighed as she stared at Mildred. Mildred shook back to Earth, her recalling had to pause. Sighing, she called Tabby. Tabby quickly headed towards her, clumsily stumbling over his stubby little legs. Miss Drill sighed in dismay.

' S- sorry, Miss Drill... ' Mildred grunted as she picked up the little stubborn cat. Tabby swayed its tail left and right, causing it to brush against Mildred's belt, making it dirty with cat hair.

The next few hours Mildred hadn't actually shown what she was good at, therefore Miss Drill had to train her and Tabby to win the Witching Competition.

Ethel Hallow had been watching her secretly by the door the whole time. She was scowling for what seems to be like the whole time. Mildred was struggling with Tabby and Ethel just wanted to make it worse. When Mildred mounted her broom, Ethel did a flick and Mildred went all haywire, flying around in the air like a mad chicken flapping its wings furiously. Ethel smirked.

' Good luck with that, Mildred Hubble. ' she sneered before going off to class.
