"Do you really think this will work, Jane?", Hamish asks me, playing nervously with the small box in his hands. "I don't know. But it's our last chance, and if Harry really meant what he said when he gave you that engagement ring, it will bother him enough to make him remember. Now, come on. I want to get this over with." We step inside Harry's room and find him packing his suitcase, ready to leave and begin a new life somewhere else. Somewhere without me. "Hi, what are you two doing here? Coming to say goodbye?", he asks, very unlike him. Hamish shakes his head. "Actually, I wanted a witness for what I am going to do next, Harry. Something very very special." Now he has his attention. "Something special? What are you up to?" My partner in crime smiles at Harry and tells him to watch closely, before taking a deep breath and going down on one knee. When his gaze captures the silver diamond ring that Hamish's hand is holding out to me, something seems to start moving in Harry. "Jane, you are the best friend I ever had, I trust you with all my heart and from now on until the end of our days I never wish to be parted from you again. Will you do me the honor and marry me?"

There's a loud bang as Harry drops the book he just wanted to put into his suitcase on the ground. "No", comes over his trembling lips. "No, she's not going to marry you. She's my girl, my Jane, my darling. Oh god" Then his voice breaks and he starts to sob uncontrollably. I step away from Hamish and take him into my arms. "Oh god, how could I not remember you? How could I..." He clings to me like a child who got lost, hiding his face in the crook of my neck. I pull him closer. "Shhh, it's alright. I'm here. I'm here and I love you, so so much. I love you, I love you, I love you" I bury my fingers in his hair, pressing a gentle kiss to his forehead. My heart suddenly feels weightless and free, and nothing seems to matter anymore. There's just Harry and me. "I thought I'd lost you for the last fucking year. Do you even have the slightest idea what that was like? Promise to never do that to me ever again, Hart." Finally, Harry lifts his gaze, looking me straight in the eyes. "I promise by everything I've got. Good lord, I forgot how beautiful you are, darling." I smile at him and take his face in my hands to pepper it with kisses, making him chuckle. His laughter melts my heart. On how many days of the past year have I not longed for it...

I'm just about to pull him into a more passionate kiss, when Hamish clears his throat right behind us. I completely forgot that he actually never left. Harry turns around, though keeping me close to his chest, refusing to give up any of the physical contact. "I think it finally might be time for this, my friend." Hamish hands him the ring, giving him a reassuring smile. Then he pats Harry's back. "It's good to have you back, Galahad.", he says and gets out of the room, giving us some privacy.

My boyfriend's gaze meets mine as he gets onto his knee, hands shaking. His eyes are shining and full of love and adoration. "What can I even say to do you justice, my starlight? Youre my world, my everything. Since the very first time I met you I just knew that you are the one for me, the love of my life. Jane Sophie Unwin, will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?" I don't have to think about that for a second. "Yes, yes I will, Harry." Smiling widely, he slips the ring back onto that finger where it was for the last twelve months, as if he was sealing a promise that has been made a long time ago. Then I pull him back on his feet and crash my lips into his, fiercely. Harry responds with the same passion, tightening his grip around my waist. In that moment, the door swings open and Eggsy jumps inside, ready to welcome Galahad back and congratulate us on our engagement.
