(Yang)
The best thing happened a week ago. I got to help Aurora with her problem, while being my superhero self! There was this other girl, Dark. She was the near opposite of me, and we both helped to save the day.
Then something really weird happened a few nights ago. I had a scary dream, but it wasn't just what my mind came up with, in fact, my mind didn't come up with it. It was controlled by another person with powers.
I couldn't see them, and I was disguised, and Dark was there with me. She tried to defend us, but the person tried to suffocate her, with telekinesis. He was the one to give us these powers and disguises. I woke up before I could ask how and why.
I could tell that it was definitely a male speaking, but his voice sounded really strange. Like it was fading away, and distorted. Like he was in pain, like he was dying. It sounded like it was separating, what I mean by that is it was mostly a male's voice, but it also had this feminish tone in there, that was higher than my voice.
After a few moments of heavy breathing, I had fallen back to sleep. I didn't have anything happen in my sleep ever since, or any dreams at all.
Me and Yin had started doing chores again so we can get a bike for each of us in the spring. It was her idea to get bikes, it's not a good idea for this time of year, but I like it. It's a good compromise.
Me and Yin were a bit late to school today because I had gotten so distracted by Dusk. He loves to play with this blue feather toy that we bought a week ago. While we were both running to school so we could get there on time, Lucas' limo showed up.
I didn't notice it at first, but Lucas was right next to me when I ran past him. Unfortunately, his crowd follows him all around the school, so of course, someone was beside him. That's how I tripped on another person's leg.
I scraped the side of my cheek, and Yin stopped to gaze at me. Everyone stood about a yard away from me, and Lucas was right in front of me, in shock. I would just usually recover and laugh it off with everyone else, but right in front of my crush? Seriously? I felt like crying at that moment.
Then, someone's hand extended out towards me. I looked up from it, and it was Lucas' hand. I reached out shakily and took his hand while he pulled me up.
"Are you okay?" He asks, everyone is looking at us, wide eyed. It didn't just feel like the whole school was looking at me, it felt like the whole world was looking at me. I can hardly contain my face from becoming red and squealing. It felt like time had stopped.
"Yes..." I finally replied, shaken up. "Thank you."
"Do you want me to take you to the office? Your cheek is really scratched up." He asks.
"No, I'm ok. Thank you though." I replied, shocked. I haven't had any pain from my cheek, until I touched it. It was coated with blood. I walk increasingly faster until I get to Yin, who stops me.
"Did you do that on purpose? Or do we live in a cheesy fairytale?" She asks me, and really doesn't care about my wound.
"It was an accident." I replied harshly while covering up my cheek. "I'm going to go to the nurse to get it cleaned." I say and walk the other direction.
I ran into the girls' bathroom, which was empty. I wash the blood and grime off of it, and attempt to heal it. Then I remembered that my powers only work if I am disguised. "Light, activate." I whisper, and transform into Light. I hold my hand lightly against my cheek, and it heals itself.
I de-transform and walk out of the bathroom and to my locker. Yin is at her locker, playing on her phone, and she sees me when I start to enter my locker combination.
"Wow, they really did a good job covering it up." She exclaimed.
"Yeah, with some makeup and rubbing alcohol, you can do anything." I say with fake enthusiasm.
She shrugged and continued scrolling on her phone. I softly sighed in relief. She thought that it was those two things that worked.
I was embarrassed for the whole first period. After that, no one spoke to me about what had happened, and it felt like everyone forgot about what happened. It still was like everyone was looking at me though. Hundreds of eyes staring at a single soul, knowing that she made a horrible mistake in front of the most popular person in school. They also know that Lucas had helped me up.
More people started to talk to me after lunch, and I felt like I served a place in this school now. People had also started to fall in front of Lucas, but he knows better, and knows that they are only doing it for attention. It may be seen as rude, but copying someone's actions for someone's love, especially on the same person, is just not a good idea.
That night, I laid awake while Yin was asleep. I didn't really want to go to school tomorrow, not after what I had done. The replay of me falling, looking like and idiot, kept playing in my head. I saw people laughing, Lucas with the crowd. From different angles. I couldn't just move on and live life as I turned in my bed to try to go to sleep.
I looked at my clock, it was eleven-thirty at night, two hours past my usual bedtime. Then I heard a slight gasp, and I heard shuffling. I looked up to see Yin awake, breathing heavily.
"Yin? Did you have a bad dream?" I ask quietly.
She looks at me, surprised for me to be awake. She stays quiet for a moment while looking at me, lost in thought. "Yeah..." She slowly says.
"Do.. you want to talk about it?"
After a few more moments she said "Sure... Do you ever wonder why we glow sometimes?"
"I don't know, do you know why?"
"No, it was related to someone that could do that, but I've never seen them before. I guess my brain was trying to make me wonder."
"Huh." I say. I close my eyes, and I start to slowly fall asleep. If I was more awake, I would have thought about brains can't make new faces and about the person in my dreams. I was too sleepy though, as now I felt better that I talked to someone, and my melatonin that I took a while ago is now working.
I fell asleep as quickly as I started to drift away. I forgot everything that Yin had said once I woke up.
That morning, I arrived at school earlier than usual. I got my stuff from my locker, and I talked with some peers.
Lucas came into my view a few minutes later. Beside me was a girl named Lyla. She was never the nicest person, and had a reputation for being a bit insane. A girl who dresses up the prettiest and has the best makeup out of the whole school, is also the most psychologically manipulative. She has had many boyfriends, and broke up with all of them in the span of two months.
She is desperate for attention, and is probably going to try again to win Lucas' affection once again. She looks at me for a moment, with a smug face. She is probably one of the people that thinks that I tripped in front of him on purpose.
Once Lucas is near, Lyla walks over next to him, and shoves someone who is in front of him onto the floor. Lucas trips over the girl's stuff, which was now all over the floor. He is able to land gracefully without getting hurt, unlike me. He helps himself up, and before he can get up, Lyla asks "Do you need help?"
He turns around, with a glare plastered on his face. "No, I am fine." He helps the girl up and walks away, and the rest of his group follows him. Lyla is left in utter shock, and she walks away, and rolls her eyes at me, as I innocently smile.
"Gee, what an attention hog." Yin says. The bell rings right after, and she walks away to her classroom, while I go to mine. The rest of the day, Lucas doesn't say anything to anyone. His group separates a bit more often than today, since he isn't being his usual social self.
I was at Track today, running, being the top of my class when I feel the ground shake. Everyone stops running, including me, when we all see the source of the ground shaking. It was another possession attack, and the person was destroying many small buildings by stomping at the ground.
We are all ordered to go to safety, as I stayed in the locker room to transform. I flew over to the skyscraper Dark was at last time, and fortunately, she was there again.
"Took you long enough." Dark said.
"I was stuck at an event."
"Okay, sure. How are we going to take it down?"
"You should refer to it as they. It's not an object."
"You never know, it could be an angry toilet."
I sighed, "Whatever, we just need to find a way to calm her down and unpossess her."
"I've been trying to think for awhile, but the only thing I could come up with is that we just let her blow her steam off." Dark replies.
"That would hurt a lot of people."
"True, but it would solve the problem."
"Come on, Dark! We should actually try and help! Do you have anything we could use to stop her?"
"Like this?" She asks, taps her gem, and a sword is summoned into her hand. It's all black, metal, and it is extendable. "It also has a light." She taps a button, and a cyan laser pops out of the top of it.
"How did you figure that out?' I asked. I was really surprised, we had weapons?
"I don't know. I was just having to go somewhere very quickly and it just happened. It's kind of a long story."
"I want to see if I can do it." I say, I tap my gem, and a bow comes out that glows cyan faintly. "Nice."
"There's one problem though. I can't summon it for more than two minutes at a time or else I detransform and nearly faint." She says, and puts the weapon back into her gem.
"Well maybe we shouldn't summon them, only when we are in desperate situations." I say, and also put my weapon back. I hope that my weapon is for not killing the opponent. "I think that we should try and calm her down like the last person."
"Sounds fine." She says, and we both leapt into the air towards the person. Upon closer inspection, I see that it looked kind of like Lyla. I guess that she got really mad over that situation, but she kind of deserved it.
She turns around, and sees both of us, and she knows who we are. The girl stomps on the ground, and some of the concrete rises, creating a shockwave that pulls us both back. "Do not get in my way! I am looking for someone!" She says, but she winces in pain, closes her eyes, and rubs her head. "Fine." She is currently being controlled by Tuskai, being told what to do and having to do it without mercy.
She runs towards us and stomps back, creating a bigger shockwave than last time. We try to get to her again, but she just creates another shockwave, coming closer to us.
Yin nearly flips over after the third attempt. "I'm getting real tired of this, can I just use my weapon?"
"I guess that there is no other choice." I say, and we both summon our weapons. I see the girl jump into the air, and aim right for Dark, while she is distracted.
"Dark! Watch out!" I yell, and look over to the girl, and Dark holds her sword a foot from her face. The girl is diving towards Dark, fist first.
Once her fist and Dark's sword collide, something crazy happens. The girl is thrown back, and Dark is right where she was at. "Wow, nice work." I say.
"Thanks," she replies, and puts her sword away. We both start jumping towards the girl, and then we see her come out of the blue at equally fast speeds.
I use my bow, and once I hold my bow properly, an arrow magically appears out of thin air. It is a bright cyan, I hesitated using it for a moment, I didn't want to hurt her, she is only doing it because she is forced to. Then I realized I would still be killed, no matter if she was possessed or not. I fire it directly at the girl.
It hits her in the arm, and sends her flying back, and she is pinned to a tall building after being flung. I flew over to her as fast as I could, while Dark trails behind.
She is stuck, trying to get the arrow out of her arm. She doesn't seem to be in pain, as I expected from my sudden bursts of prediction.
"Let me go! I have to get your gems! Then I can fight her!"
"You want my gem?" I asked, looking at it, while putting my bow away. "Who are you mad at?"
"Lyla! She used me! She let me be in front of Lucas for once so she could just trip me to embarrass me in front of him! She didn't get what she deserved!" Oh, I guess it wasn't Lyla, but that other person that was pushed.
She was aiming to find Lyla, and to hurt her, or possibly kill her. "Well, violence doesn't solve the problem. What... whoever she is, we can solve it."
"You don't understand! She is the most stuck-up girl in our school, and I'm tied to her actions all the time! No matter what I try, I just can't let go of her! No matter what you do to her, she won't learn." She explains, while trying to get the arrow out of her arm.
I knew that Lyla was a subject of hers, but I had forgotten it was her. She must also feel forgotten, and needs the feel of importance. She can't let go because she will feel like she doesn't matter anymore.
"Well, it's difficult to go against your feelings sometimes, but if she is weighing you down, go say to her face that you don't need her anymore, and you can hang out with other people."
"That's the problem. I don't have any friends, and I don't have the confidence to say it to her face. "
"Well, if no one likes her but a few brats, people will support you for leaving her side. You'll have many options to choose from if you are a good friend."
"That's... true." She says, and she transforms to become normal again. "Thank you."
I get up, and I notice that there is a big crowd around us, with Dark right at my side. "Good job." She says.
"Hello?" What's your name?" Someone says.
"How do you have powers?" Another one says.
"Will you be able to clean this up?" A third one says.
I realize that the first possession wasn't that big of a deal, but now with a lot of houses and buildings destroyed, I can see that the city will be damaged far worse than this.
"High five?" Dark asks.
"Sure." We gently high five, and then a slight burst of power is felt, unlike last time. I hear some noise all around us, then and I look around and see that everything has been reverted because of our high five.
I hear cheering, and it's because the city has been saved. I can also now see that many more possessions will be happening, and I can see that it will be alright. That we will have some difficulty taking each one down, but at the end of the day, everything will be safe.
I realized that my bow had been summoned for the whole conversation. I guess that Dark's weapon is just too overpowered to be out for too long. I put my bow away.
Before we could be bombarded with questions, I said that I would have to go. I had other things to do, but later, I would be able to answer them. Dark did the same, and we both left by jumping high into the air, and both of us went our separate ways.
I went through my bedroom door while no one was looking, the same spot as last time. I transformed while in my room, and went downstairs to get some homework done.
The next day, Rose (I found the name in a yearbook that we have) asked if I could hang out with her. She must have listened to my advice, and left Lyla's side to be a better person. I feel honored to be that nicer person.
I agreed, and I made sure that I talked to her, and made sure that she felt comfortable with Adraine, Knox, Olivia, Nicole, and Aurora. I saw that she was very happy all throughout the day, and I was happy for her and I was also happy that I was able to change her mind.-
The mind is very amazing and complex, but it also is very easily manipulated. Anyone can be used for your own good if you know their weaknesses and their neural complexion. You can scare them, control them, or even learn to take over their mind until they snap.
I had checked in with Lucas, and I was more pleased with his chosen subject. He needed to try harder though, and find someone with a pure, burning rage. He had said that it's difficult to find people like that, and I also did know that. He feels stressed, and I assured him that this would all be worth it in the end. That's his only motivation, not including his fear of having an even worse life.
The REM stage is also a very powerful thing to enter. You enter it about six times in your sleep, and it lets you enter the Mindscape. It also is the part of your brain where it simulates dreams.
Yin is going through one of the developing phases. This phase attempts to turn against you and you dream about very strange things. She tries to hide her emotions from her parents and Yang. She is doing well, but there is a chance she will crack.
I am relieved to see that even though she may be magic-locked, her magic is still shining through, and that there is a chance to somehow revive her. A chance that she wasn't all a failure.
Yang might not have a single phase since her absolute power level is so low. Yin was special because of her magic level, and now since it has a nearly unremovable limiter, I'm losing hope.
Since they were incubated, I have been attempting to look into the future, and I haven't been able to see anything after they were seven. I don't have any idea why this had happened.
I also was experimenting with them ever since they were able to talk. I was learning from myself, as I also did have a few phases at some point. There are still a lot of things I do not know about the use of magic, and how it affects your body.
I also have been experimenting with the Mindscape, especially while the subjects were gone. I had another subject at one point, but he was able to break the bonds of my physiological chains. Some people are stronger than others mentally, and I knew at one point this would happen, I had to choose a smart one that was diving into the mystery of strange phenomenons.
He gave me information, and I gave him my information about my magic. We were friends at some point, but then an argument broke out. I try to not think about that.
My disease has also been worsening, since I have been using my powers recently. I'm barely able to heal anymore, and I can't use heavy painkillers to stop it anymore. I've been getting very nauseous lately, and I don't think that I will be able to communicate using the simulation anymore. At least not for that long.
It gets quite lonely here. There were so many rooms here but no one to occupy them. I made this whole cave just for my own enjoyment, it only led me to pain. It only has sped up my eventual painful death.
Yin's dreams are only going to get worse. Yang's tensions are going to get more difficult. Lucas' stress will only increase. And I, I will have to wait and slowly die.
